Mitsubishi Lancer dashboard instruments

Fail when weather is hot and resume operating when a/c runs for approx 15 minutes

I have a Mitsubishi Lancer 2000. Dashboard works when weather is very cold, but when the surrounding environment heats up enough, dashboard does not work. Suspect that there is a loose connection to car and dashboard as when the dashboard does not work, the odometer does not clock..

i have the same problem, i disassemble the dashboard and take a look at the pcb to check whether its just a component mulfunction and no luck, pcb is ok ( sometimes its running smoothly) maybe its the power supply that is powering up the board.

YOU WILL NEED TO REMOVE THE DASH HAVE A LOOK AT THE BACK OF IT AND YOU WILL SEE SIX SCREWS AT THE REAR OF THE FUEL GAUGE AND TEMP GAUGE, NOW THE THIRD ONE FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE DASH IS THE ONE THAT YOU NEED TO PUT ABOUT 18 INCH PIECE OF WIRE ONTO THEN RUN IT TO AN IGNITION POWER SUPPLY! THIS WILL POWER THE DASH AS I HAVE REPAIRED MY SISTERS LANCER THIS WAY

I have the exact same problem, it doesn't work when heats up. I have removed the dash and could not find any problems. Had tried to solder the joints on the circuitry and check wiring for loose connections but to no avail. Can you please email me a circuit diagram. Thanks,

I own a 2001 lancer and at the moment I've found that the dash is working in the morning (cold weather) and as the day warms up its stops working. Also I have found that the cd player cuts out every now and then. I am going to try trickymicky6's advice and also going to try the solution of turning the a/c on for 15 or so minutes. Auto mechanic said he couldn't help without looking it over and wreckers won't let you try a spedometer because they don't want it broken due to the fact that the fault might be in the car wiring itself. Hope this prevents an unecessary trip. Let you know how it all works out :)

Power loss and shuddering on Daewoo Lanos 2000 in hot weather

sounds like you have a over heating issue most cars no a days will kill power and shake like this.the computer is like a back up safety tokeep you from destroying the engine.because when you let it set for about 30 minutes or so you can resume driving normal till the temp gets in the red I assume then it will start shaking and big loss of power.have you cooling system checked out to make sure.hope this helps you out.

My son has a 1996 chevy cavalier with a 2,2 liter engine it starts fine and runs until it gets up to operating temp and stumbles and shuts off then it won't restart until it cools off car stiil cranks over...

2 things come to my mind. first I would check the fuel pump unit. Usually a bad fuel pump would fail when it gets hot, only to resume working after cooling. To check if the fuel pump is operational when the car dies, put the key in On position right before cranking position and try to listen to the fuel pump making its operating noise or not.u need to be in a quite area to be able to hear it. U could take it to a local mechanic and ask him to check the fuel pressure from the pressure valve in the engine bay. second scenario is the CSPS. Crank shaft position sensor, located on the top side of the transmission near the flywheel housing.(front top side of the transmission) a bad Csps would fail and cause the engine to die when it gets hot even under very normal weather conditions. Check and let us know. Good luck

1999 astro/4.3L/starts cold /runs 10-15 min. then dies will not start hot new battery.new coil/clean filter/pump 2 yrs old installed new/battery shows 14 amps when running/ won t crank when hot either/...

car shuts off when it gets to normal operating range. it takes 10-15 minutes to reach normal range. causes: low coolant, failing coolant tempurature sensor, air in water pump, check the coolant temp. sensor. if it is bad it will send wrong info to engine when hot, and shut it down. ITS WORTH A TRY!! good-day!

My temperature gage stays slightly above 140F. when driving my impala 2003 at approx.65 m/hr. on the hway a this time of the year in easter Pennsylvaniia. Is this normal?

Normal operating temp is 196 to 198,if that is
what the thermostat is.
The vehicle will run about 205 to 210 in hot weather

If the thermostat is 8 years old,it should have been
changed a couple year ago,as part of preventative
maintenance. You doing brake down maintenance.

After driving in hot weather for 20 to 30 minutes the car stalls

Sounds like your coil pack is going bad. When they start to go bad, they will fail when they get hot but when they eventually cool down the car will run as normal. I would replace your coil and that should take care of your problem. Thanks for using FixYa!

Runs fine for approx 15 mins, then stalls out and wont start again

sounds like coil problem, coils will start cold then get hot and stop. when coil cools will crank up and run till it gets hot, try to replace the ignition coil, dont think it would be a crank sensor, try a coil, thanks robert b.

1997 cadillac sls overheating

Allow it to cool down and refill system while running with heater on hot. Hopefully this will get the air out of the system. However, if this condition persists, have the radiator checked for hydrocarbons. These engines are sensitive to overheat and you may have blown a head gasket. (hope not)
Good luck!
