I own a 2001 lancer and at the moment I've found that the dash is working in the morning (cold weather) and as the day warms up its stops working. Also I have found that the cd player cuts out every now and then. I am going to try trickymicky6's advice and also going to try the solution of turning the a/c on for 15 or so minutes. Auto mechanic said he couldn't help without looking it over and wreckers won't let you try a spedometer because they don't want it broken due to the fact that the fault might be in the car wiring itself. Hope this prevents an unecessary trip. Let you know how it all works out :)
