2002 ford taurus smell gas when the outside temperature is over 80 degrees

May find the problem just looking & smelling,
if you have a leak,shouldn't have one though

Exhaust leaking? Might just be bad catalytic converters or low quality fuel.Get it checked because winter is when people get monoxide poisoning more often. don-ohio

auto tech for 15 years you have a crack on the fuel pump return line on the fuel pump assemble I have done many Taurus with the same problem the fuel puddles up on top of the tank and smells bad replace the whole fuel pump assemble and the smell will go away.

Mine did same thing,replaced fuel filter and no more problem

if you can not find a fuel leak under hood, then check for a bad fuel pressure regulator. if it goes bad it will emit gas fumes under hood. is the check engine light on!! if so it may be the regulator or another leak. also check the evap system, could be a bad or broken hose ( underhood ). check all fuel lines from front to back.

this could be a ton of diffedrent things from your air filter being clogged to a transmission problem. depending on the color of the fluid it may help you determine the problem or reveal another. if the fluid is a reddish color it is transmission fluid if its gas you should be able to smell it but it sounds like you have a leaky break line or wheel cylinder

make sure the pvc valve is in place on the valve cover on the passenager side and also make sure the oil filter does not have a double gasket on it cause this will make it leak and the fan would blown oil back on the engine

no theres not a valve for smells, it usually means that when your tank is empty, it smells bad because most likely your running on water and gas, which causes a bad smell, a good way to fix it, is to pour a bottle of a subtence called HEAT, thats what it says on the bottle, then just pour all of it in your gas tank and what it does is make all the water that may be in your gas tank dissapear.. hope this helps...and if it doesn't that usually means that you should replace your fuel fillter.
