'95 MUSTANG IS OVERHEATING

We replaced the thermostat and it ran good for a week then it started overheating again. we pulled the water pump and the blades spin freely, and it doesn't appear that it is leaking. there is no obstruction in the block or radiator( we ran water through them). what else should i check?? if the head gasket is leaking how would i tell??

Bad headgasket = water in oil (milky) or oil in water (foamy I think).
but yea, ah... I had a Ford once. My experience is that once something like this starts the only thing you can do to repair it is to buy a japanese car. lol

1999 XK8 showing these codes after engine has been overheated car wont start battary is shot god only nos what else been parked for two weeks got jump to work on it ran fine and started fine before it...

Overheating is problem, not codes. Codes only secondary from overheating.
Borrow cooling system pressure tester.
Replaces cooling system cap.
Pump up above cap pressure.
Watch that gauge does not go down.
If it does, then leak.
If you can't find it, try filling with coolant again, and over pumping.
Check for water in spark plugs from head gasket.
Run engine.
If gauge oscillates, then bad head gasket.
Always replace thermostat after overheating.
Make sure belts tight.
Charge battery.
If when you try to start, if voltage drops below 10, then either battery bad, start bad, or engine binding.
If it goes back to 12 when you stop cranking, it is not the battery.
If the engine is binding, it will not be easy to turn by hand, even with plugs out.

I have a 1993 ford mustang with the six cylinder engine. I have an over-heating problem. Every once and a while (almost rarely) the engine overheats. When it does, the air out of the heater becomes...

this could be a couple of things - you might check to make sure the fan is spinning ok ( it could be going out or not spinning proper ) ,, also check that your water pump belt is at the correct tension, make sure your anti-freeze and water is at the proper ratio, and I know that you said that you replaced the thermostat - but there is a chance that the thermostat is not opening all the way and is restricting water flow. since you also brought up the ' heater blowing cold ' problem, I would say that there seems to be a water cirulation issue -- ( again to the pump or thermostat ).

is it acually getting hot or is it just the gauge on the dash saying so? a quality scan tool can show you what the coolant temp sensor is telling the pcm it may differ from the gauge.
