Question about 1993 Ford Taurus
When I put the key in the ignition switch and turn it there is no sound and the car will not start after I wait a while then the car will start.
I have the same problem but I now know how to fix it...well it works for my 96 taurus. Push in your brake and shift to neutral then turn the key....it should start right up!

Does your head lights come on? if the headlights do not come on the battery cable are bad broken in side the cable ends or dirty at the other end check both pos and neg cables. If the lights come on replase the starter.

You need to go to GM and find out what defective part is causing this, the most common is the sensor in the ignition lock cylinder fails, then when you try to start it doesn't send a usable signal from the key chip to the electronic module that controls the security system and it locks you out.

SOURCE: Car having troble starting
ok whenever the security light comes on its a bad thing. it means that for some reason your cars passlock system is not recognizing your key. unless you have a buddy with a scan tool (not a code reader, used for changing computer settings) you will probably need to go to your dealership and have them check your passlock system. they may be able to reset it to match your key again or they may find that your passlock mechanism in your ignition is bad.

On many cars, if the battery is dead, it locks the key in the ignition. Put a battery charger on the car or replace the battery and give it a shot.

check your battery first if that is good and charged 12 volts you have to look at connections at starter could be loose if not then try testing small wire at starter for power while key is in the on position to do this you will need help some one to turn key as if to start power should be at small wire if it is than starter is bad. the clicking coming from under dash is starter relay usually click when low voltage or a short in starter

Testimonial: "You got it right. With single digit weather, the battery was dead. After a long jumpstart it started right up. Greatly appreciate it."
