MY 2004 Dodge Durango had the service engine soon light flashing brought to dealer had diagnostic done they said spark plugs were fried and chanded them and wire and the car still has a miss in it. They said only 4 cylinders are firing. I spoke to a friend of mine who is a mechanic and he said his daugher had the same problem and it turned out to be the CPU unit. My dealer said they will check it. When the did the diagnostic on the car they said they spoke to Chrysler also to see what they thought and I guess the said if they ran all the diagnostics then it must be in the engine. Is it possible that the CPU can do this to the car and one replaced work ok? I found that on the web there were other people who had the same problem with their dodge.

If there is no power from the courtesy fuse to the aldl connector, the scanner won't communicate. Check the fuse for the lighter first before you replace the computer for this problem

Where are the O2 sensor located on a 1997 Dodge caravan sport' and how many are there?

There are 2 o2 sensors on the caravan upstream+downstream
The downstream sensor is located on the exaust pipe at the
converter. As I don't know what engine you have, the upstream
sensors are located as follows
2.4 on exaust manifold firewall side of engine
3.0 on manifold near alternator
3.3+3.8 center of manifold firewall side

I am having trouble starting my 1997 Dodge Caravan. It keeps rolling over, but takes about two minutes to actually start.

try turning key on and off 2or 3 times then see if it starts right up. if it is there is a check valve in the fuel pump. it cant be replaced. you would have to replace the whole sending unit. costs about $600.00

1997 dodge caravan spark plug change procedure

With the engine cold, I think you take your 5/8 spark plug wrench, proper extensions, wobble joint (where needed) & 3/8 or 1/2 ratchet & remove 1 plug wire & plug at a time (In case you don't know the firing order or have the book, or don't have numbers on the plug wires at the ign module). The plugs in the front are easy to change, the back ones are a lot more difficult. I an assuming you have something like a 3.3 engine. (I have 3) While you are at it, check your small emissions hoses & vac hoses & belts. Rick
