Question about 1985 Cadillac Eldorado

1 Answer

Pulsating idle When I start my 01 Caddy Seville it pulsates when in idle. Then If i stop for an extended period of time right after I had started her up she jerks violently like she's not getting enough air or fuel. At that very moment she will shut down yet, I can start her right back up. I don't have problems after driving for a little while or anytime throughout the day. Its just the over night sit. What could this be? I tested the codes after she shut down and there were no codes. thoughts?

    ccn7,

I haven't done anything to address the issue. I don't want to start replacing things that don't need to be replaced. its not cheap. I purchased the car around 2 years ago. I have done nothing to it beside the regular oil/change and air filter. Could it the fuel injector or fuel pump by chance? or maybe a blown fuse?

    thanks for the help!

When was the last time the fuel filter was chg? Have you done a fuel pressure test?

Sometimes on the HT4100 Cadillac motors the timing would slip out of sync and that's where those idle surges would come in , as far as the transmission just go with a better synthetic automatic transmission oil like AMSOIL if this doesn't work your torque converter in some cases the flywheel might need to be replaced and might be lop-sided or cracked. These parts can easily be found at your local pick-a-part or salvage yard. GOODLUCK!!

Hello...I have a 2009 chevy cruze 1.8L ,some 3 months ago,the car had some pulsating and vibration during driving , so I changed the spark plugs and the problem was solved, but after about a month, the car...

Was any of the previous spark plugs fouled? Dirty? If so you need to investigate whether the problem is oil or fuel causing the fouling. Also a possibility is that you have a bad plug wire and when you changed plugs you disrupted the plug wire enough to make contact. Now possibly the plug wire is showing too much resistance causing a misfire at idle. Only way to be sure is to have the car scoped to see if the wires are proper or defective. That is unless you are the change parts and try type. In that case try a new set of wires. The reason is because at idle the voltage is not as high as it would be at higher rpm.

Why do my brakes pulsate and make it harder to stop at low speeds?

have you had your brakes looked at? Sounds like warped rotors.

My a/c does not blow cold when idling

Condition

A/C stops cooling and blows warm air when the vehicle is idling for an extended period of time such as sitting in traffic.

Cause

Inadequate airflow over the condenser may cause this condition.

This problem is a known issue, See Bulletin No.: 01-01-39-004A

2000 mitsubishi diamante has spark has fuel up to the injectors and power but wont start.

At injector's, need to check if you have ground pulsation, to check, connect test light on pos (+) battery terminal, now your set to check ground, at injector harness, probe wire's, while some one cranks engine, look for pulsation, if you don't have pulsation, it will need a computer, injector pulsation is control by the computer, if no pulsation, then no fuel can get into cylinder.

Engine idle pulsates when first started cold. Now does it after exiting freeway conditions, actually stalled at first intersection. Putting in neutral helps pulsating be less noticable

its possible it could be the lambda swith, this controls the exhaust emissions, its usually located on the exhaust down-pipe just below the manifold

Breaks grabbing and pulsating

brake shudder is caused by thcikness variation of the rotor surface. I would have the rotors machined on the car so they are perfect to your wheel spindle.
The grabbing could be due to low quality brake pads. Use Ford OEM or Motorcraft Value pads.
tascafordparts.com has discounted brakes.

Brakes pulsate real hard

That is just the ABS system at work. It is supposed to prevent your wheels from locking which often makes the brake pulsate, especially in wet weather or or snow or ice. The only way to really stop this is to disable to ABS by unplugging it and removing the fuse. This will make the ABS light appear in your dash, but your brakes will stop pulsating.
