Question about 1989 Honda Accord 4 Door

2 Answers

MY 1989 Honda Accord had cruise control until it stopped working. I checked the Fuse. Its good, I replaced the control switch on the steering wheel. Didn't fix the problem. Then replaced the power button that turns the Cruise "On & Off" and lights up "green" & is located down by your left knee of the lower dash area. Whats the next thing to try?

Look for the obvious. Check for the cable that goes to the throttle to see if it came off or broke. Also look for any leaks in the vacuum system. A small leak will cause it not to work. The unit may be engaging but with one of these problems, it just won't work.

Good Luck

You have to check if all the brake lights are working and any other lights not working any form of wire disconnection will cause the cruise to stop working.

Reset 2004 honda accord steering wheel controls?

A thing called the "Clock Spring" in the steering wheel needs replacing. It has all the wires in that operate that stuff on the steering wheel and airbag. There may also be a sliding ground connection that could be bad or dirty.

Cruise control on steering wheel does not seem to work, the light won't stay on unless I hold it down.

Well there's a cruise control combination switch on
the steering wheel and without checking I'm pretty
sure this is a dealer item. You may want to let
Honda handle this one due to air bag sensors, clock
spring and other components that could be damaged
if you attempt the repair yourself. I have the Haynes
manual and found no procedure for replacing it.

On my 2000 honda the lights behind the odometer, the cruise and the clock won't work. Would it be a fuse? Possibly the same fuse?

it very well could be the same fuse, i dont think the cruise would be on the same circuit though, it might be the switch or the little wiring harness on the back of your steering wheel

Cruise control doesn't work in 88 accord. The light works on the dash, but the buttons on the steering wheel won't work.

Hi!!

Let's start by checking the cruise control throttle linkage cable, just follow the cable coming from the cruise control servo to the throttle linkage, were it connects. The plastic clip at the end of the cable gets britle and over time, it brakes.

Check fuse
Check for loose conections and broken wires.
The cruise control system is operated by vacuum, check vacuum hoses for cracks, loose connections and obvious leaks.

Due to the complexity of the cruise control system, this is about all you can do to fix the problem.

If you can't detect the problem, take the vehicle to an authorized service shop for diagnostic and repair.

Good Luck!!!!

2002 Honda Accord EX V6 cruise control failure

So after you push the button and then press the set button in the steering wheel it does not get into cruise control ? It sounds like a minor electrical problem. If you have warranty still I think the dealership should fix it for free.

Sorry i have not been able to help you.

Cruse controll

Pull up on the brake pedal. If that does not work check your brake light bulbs (LED brake lights will also keep your cruise control form working). Finally check all of the fuses. This system needs at least 3 different fuses to work properly.
