Hello, I see you have a trailblaber with a knocking noise. It sounds like you have an electric fan clutch issue. Believe it or not your vehicle has an electric fan clutch. It looks just like the older non-electric but if you look on the driver side of the fan shroud that is the wire connector you see. It is an exspensive part just for the clutch but thats exactly what you are describing. It doesn't get louder just fast with rpms. Please rate my answer, Thank you

Engine knocking

Well a low tone knocking noise at startup is usually a worn engine bearing.
You should be able to have someone listen to the engine to tell if it is coming from the top or bottom.

1997 pontiac sunfire 2.4L.dual overhead cam 4cyEngine started making knocking noise while driving on highway. The hotter the motor got , the louder the knock got and the less the motor continued to run....

Sounds like a tapping maybe lifter. Maybe valve check under valve cover.

CHECK COOLANT LEVEL SOUND LIKE COOLANT LEVEL GOT TOO LOW IN WHICH ENGINE WILL MAKE A TAPPING NOISE ENGINE GET TO HOT IT WILL STALL OUT.

Engine knocking.

Hi,my 92 prado started making a knocking sound recently,we couldn't pin it down to one spot in the engine.
The knocking was constant at low revs and then disapeared.
Turned out to be the tourque converter knob had bust of and eventually destroyed the fly wheel and the transmission pump.
Definatley check under top cover and also drop off the sump to check for loose nuts etc.
