1998 Camaro V-6 wont start

I recently have been having starting troubles. Sometimes when I try to start the car it turns but wont turn over and other times it will simply let out a couple clicks and go silent. When it lets out a few clicks my radio presets and clock reset as if I took out the battery. It switches between these two kinds of starts every other hour when I try.

I replaced the battery since the old dripped out all of its acid. I also replaced the fuel filter. When I turn the ignition I can hear the fuel pump whine and I can feel and hear the fuel coming to the lines near the engine.

I really have no clue what to do... help?

This was happening before the battery was replaced, and now with the new battery put in.

Ok the clicking noises are gone. I cleaned the battery terminals taking out some of the gunk on the positive terminal. After that the car started up just fine, and several times at that.

Next day try to start it and it only turns, but fails to turn on. Fuel lines are fine, I can hear fuel coming back and forth in addition to the fuel pump. Im lost.could it be the starter?

It looks like there is starter problem. One wire coming to it is loose or there is a short iside. You turn the ignitions it starts to rotate, wire is coming out and car loosing power. So have the wiring and starter checked. Also might be deposition on battery clemmas.
Hope that helps

Loud bang, then drop in power, now car running rough!

Get a compression tester and find out if you blew a cylinder. You'll need to test all cylinders. Your most likely running on 7 cylinders instead of 8 or 5 instead of 6 if you have the V-6.

Help with my 98 camaro

hi, are you saying when you turn the key to start the car nothing happens and it dont even turn the engine over so it can try to start if you mean this then you need to start thinking of starter motor problems and replace if needed.

now if your engine is turning over but it wont fire up then this could be crankshaft sensor, faulty ecu, faulty coil, it could be a number of things you could throw money at it and not find the fault your best bet would be a diagnostic check done to see what codes where thrown up as having errors this would then give you the exact fault and would save you wasting money on parts you may not need

2002 Camaro intermittent no-start

Have you replaced the ignition switch? Passkey wire broken can cause no start problem.

Camaro trouble

Place the shifter in neutral and try to start. If the problem goes away you have a park/neutral safty switch at fault. If the problem remains, I would consider replacing the ignition switch located on the lower steering column, not the key tumbler but the ignition switch. If you have a test light and know how to use one we can go through the test procedure.
Try the shifter test first and let me know.
