Question about 1998 Dodge Dakota

1 Answer

Noise in motor

I have a 1993 dodge dakota before i bought it they did a engine swap changing the 318 to a 1998 -360, it was supposed to be completely rebuit, i now have a noise in what appears to be bottom end on passenger side, took to dodge shop they suggested maybe wristpin bearings but not sure without teardown. any suggestions what it maybe i read somewhere that a timing belt that has jumped a tooth would cause a simular noise?

The 360 has a timing chain not belt, dont believe thats ur problem. Could be piston slap or wrist pin bearings. Before going to all that trouble I would check the flywheel if it has a small fracture it will cause a similar noise, often misdiagnosed as being low end engine problems.

I have a 1996 dodge dakota with a 3.9L engine, can I swap the engine with a 318V8 ?

Mechanically it can be done, but I'm not sure about the computer, wiring harness, and plumbing that would have to go with it.

Blower motor in 1993 dodge dakota

u must have knocked the vacuum hose off when u changed the motor, that (vacuum) is what moves the air to the different outlets, the vacuum comes from the engine and enters the cab on the passenger side..

Thinking about an engine swap

yes you will have to change the computer. the rear diff wont have to be changed if the front diff has the same gear ratio.the entire front end suspension will need removed so tha you can mount the four wheel drive differential this most likely will require custom modifications. and the whole process will be very time consuming and expensive
