are you sure that you don`t have either a tbi or a fuel injected engine? did your van get hit in the rear end check the internal switch should be in the rear of the van. also if it has a elect. pump you should hear a humming sound when you rotate the key to the run position if you don`t the pump is not working.

First check the fuse in the fuse box. Then the relay under the hood. If they check out then you have a bad electric fuel pump. its located inside the fuel tank.

The filter you chg. an inline filter? Is there a filter in the carb.where fuel line connects, some had a brass screan in the carb. you can chk. the fuel pressure without it running, just unhook line at carb. put it into a plastic bottle or something to catch it and have someone turn engine over if it squirts out good thats enought for it to run they only put out about 6 to 8 lbs. of pressure. I don't think that solenoid would keep it from running, when it will run on either. but maybe if you unplug it and see what happens. It suunds to me to be a fuel dilivery problem, either something restricting the flow to carb. or you got a bad pump.

I just put an engine in a 1972 VW bug just won't start firing order is fine top dead center is fine just turns but doesn't want to turn over

Hi Timothy:
Old Dude wisdom..........
- Fire at the plugs and
- Fuel in the jugs

If everything else is OK it should run. Not necessarily well, but it should run.

What to do?
1) Check for hot blue spark at the plug electrodes
2) Check for fuel in the carb.

If you have spark, give it a shot of gas into the carb, and give it a try. If it doesn't start, backfires, or catches fire, you'll need to double check the timing and plug lead firing order.

Not kidding! Don't set fire to it!.

Hi I have a greenfield e2000 and I was driving it the other day and she just stop running. I have since had a mobile guy out to inspect it and he though it was the head gasket, we did replace but she still...

It sounds to me like your not getting fuel from the gas tank. Have you checked your fuel pressure to see if it is getting fuel to the carb ? Also on some of the Briggs motors the carb has a solinoid on the bottom of the carb bowl that shuts the fuel supply off when the key is turned to the off possition to prevent back fire through the exaust when you shut the machine off after use. Check to see if there is power to it with a 12 volt test light while cranking it over.

Old '87 ranger been sitting in folks yard few years. fires up fine, but spits and sputters going down the road

Old fuel in tank, fuel filter clogged, plugged/clogged carb. or fuel injectors.

1. Drain fuel from tank and replace with new fuel with SeaFoam or Lucas

2. Repace fuel filter

3. With engine running at a high idle and air cleaner off, spray or pour carb/fuel injection cleaner into carb/fuel injectors.

If problems persist, check plug wires for cracks and/or breaks. Pull spark plugs checking for fouling.

Car wont start, turns over fine but theres no feed of gas to carb

take your distributor cap off and check the ignition module for loose wires or even a ground strap thats connected to the engine to the body , you can take the module to autozone and have it checked for free, it might have a crank position sensor thats going wacky

Car was running fine, now won't crank. It turns over. Some told me timing chain, distributor, injectors, spray carb spray in throttle body or something like that. Can you please help me?

You are saying that the engine will crank or turn over but will not start? If so then you must fine out if the engine has both fuel and spark. after that you can get into the right direction. You can use starting fluid to see is there is a fuel issue. Read the directions on the can. Using too much can harm you and/or your engine.

Car turns over will not start

  1. Check to see the condition of the spark ur getting from the distributor. If it is not sufficient, let an auto-electrician look at ur distributor
  2. Are u certain fuel is being reached to the cylinders. If not check to see if there's a fuel blockage or any other reason that might casue the fuel to not reach the cylinder.
  3. If the timing belt has severed, the camshaft will not be able to turn inorder for fuel to be entered into the cylinder. I doubt this might be the problem though.
