Removing the belt tensioner

I am trying to remove a belt tensioner off a 1996 chrysler town and country van and im having trouble removing the tensioner that has the long screw attached to it. I did remove the pulley off it , and I did did the best I could by loosening and moving the generator so I could try to get behind it but there is no room at all to get a ratchet or wrench to loosen up the bolt on the backside, but I was also told to unscrew the tensioner part. well I need help on trying to remove it. what do I need todo. thanks Mark

You need a very long extension, and a swivel with a long socket. You can get it from underneath that way.

How stop the serpentine belt from fallen off the tensioner on a 1993 town & country. Is there a aftermarket pulley wheel for that tensioner to replace the flaw problems.

My 1991 Grand Caravan did that too. It had the 3.3L engine just the the T&C (91-93). The tensioner was the problem, hit a puddle on the right side and you'd feel the power steering go and then right away the engine would start to heat up. I tried making the belt come off, but could never duplicate it, only splashing through puddles of rain or wet slush would do it. I never found a tensioner with shoulders on it, but a new one like the original fixed it.

How do i remove the serpentine belt from a 2002 chrysler mini van (town and country) i can't figure out the tensioner at all

On the tensioner there is a little square hole on the frount of it, that is for your 3/8 socket ,but use a breaker bar insert it into hole and turn it and you will see belt come loose,, get diagram of how it winds back on at the parts store you got the belt at.

Remove & lubricate with WD-40 for overnight in warm place. If no go--heat with a torch as long as its all metal. If no go--replace.

Try to spray some Anti-Squeal belt dressing on the belt and see if that helps, if not you must likely have a pulley or tensioner thats going bad.
