Question about 2004 Ford F350

1 Answer

When I depress the throttle on my 2004 ford f-350 the engine does not always throttle up. the truck starts and runs fine and idles perfectly even when the throttle does not respond. shutting down the engine and restarting it seems to help on some occassions. Any Ideas

What engine? Does it set a wrench or check engine light? They have problems with the electronic throttlebody, will give you no throttle response

My 2005 Ford Focus won't stay running unless my foot is on the gas. It starts just fine & the check engine light is NOT on. What could be causing this?

It is likely that the engine management system has lost its base line calibration. If the battery is weak and during the crank to start the voltage dipped low enough the Engine Control Module lost its calibration. If the pedal is depressed during the crank the TPS (Throttle position sensor) will lose the idle position for the throttle. The hunting and surging and resultant stalling is the ECM seeking out the limits and re-establishing the throttle idle plate location.

If battery is OK than running the car allowing the calibration of the vehicle to reestablish itself will correct the problem. My experience is that this happens if the gas pedal is depressed during crank with a very very low battery voltage. Always the best way is to not touch the pedal during any cranking starting procedure. Or after a battery replacement.

To accelerate the calibration process attempt to run the car ingear tring not to allow the car to stall. After afew munites the car will have reestablished its normal running calibration and you will be allset.

may be it the problem of another throttle body.also check the ignition switch.

Check all of the battery terminals and cables and check the wires on the starter/selonoid, start from the battery and follow the cable out and check all conections , clean and tighten them and if it still does it the starter/selonoid is bad and needs replacement...

Why won't my 1984 ltd crown victoria hold it's idle when the 302 engine is hot?

When was the last tune up? There is a few things that come to mind. possible low fuel pressure, dirty fuel injector, throttle body could need cleaning, dirty fuel filter, water in the fuel, spark plugs need to be replaced or re gapped. I need more information to try to be more helpful.

Toyota avalon 2000 engine stops even after the engine is warm. sometimes the idle is erratic.

Maybe the Throttle Pedal Actuator needs a clean. If dirty the flap is not opening as it should.

always start with a tune up. Fresh plugs, wires, distributor cap, distributor rotor, fuel filter.

If still persists, check the timing, and look for vacuum leaks

1991 Ford F-350 runs rough at cold start, dies if gas peddle depressed?

because the combustion inside the engine is going wrong the quantity of air getting inside is not the needed quantity maybe less than or more in cold will cause such problem once the engine warm up than the engine temperature is up you will not find this problem because the point of firing will be near

Check for vacuum leaks--pipe to base of carby for distributor---vacuum brake hose. Check float levels check power valve diaphragm is not burnt or has a hole. Check the gasket at the base of the carby Screw both idle mixture right in then back each 2and 1/2 turns . Use the throttle until you can get the engine to run and reduce throttle until it idles on the jets.. Check engine timing and correct firing order.

89 ford festiva. Runs and Idles stalls when gas pedal is depressed

The two most likely causes are low fuel pressure because of a faulty fuel pump or filter, or a faulty throttle position sensor.
Is the check engine light on ?

Starts fine, idles fine, stalls when put in gear to drive away

Try depressing slightly the gas pedal to see if the engine continues to run when you put it in gear. Might have to depredd gas pedal and brake simultaniusly. if the engine continues to run, then the problem is in the idle circuit. Try decarboning the throttle body and the idle speed control.
