Question about 2001 Lexus RX 300
I recently recieved a 2001 Lexus RX 300 as a gift. I was told that it had a CD player and that it was in a hidden compartment. Upon looking I found the place the chager sjould be but no changer, Do I need to get it from a dealer or can I purchase it used? If I purchase it used do I need some codes or special instructions to insall it?
I had a 2000 Lexus RX300. It had a six-CD changer in the glove box. There is a cartridge that you put the CDs in, then insert it in the changer. If the cartridge is missing, you can buy one from a Lexus dealer for about $40. I have one listed on EBay now, and there may be others.

I wonder if the person you got the vehicle from knew there was no CD changer, but never look a gift horse in the mouth. Any brand CD changer should be able to work with your in-dash controller unit. You do not need to pay an arm and a leg to the dealer for a new unit, or risk purchasing a questionable used unit. I highly recommend Crutchfield.com for selection, price, and support.
