Re: How to reset 2001 Mercedes-Benz E 430?
Hopefully you are maintaining your vehicle and having the proper synthetic oil installed in it. Since your vehicle is out of warranty you will only be cheating youself if you are just ressetting the indicater. On this version you must first put the key in position #2.. find the page on the cluster where it shows the odometer reading by using the page buttons on the steering wheel. Next using the arrow key scroll up untill you see the service interval portion i.e. A service past due... while that screen is showing you hold down the R button ( it should be located on the right side of the instrument panal towards the bottom). keep holding that button for approximatly 10 seconds. after that it will ask you if you would like to reset service interval. release the R button and press it to confirm. The interval resetting procedures are all very similar but certain models and years have different knobs and instrument clusters.

Hi. The oil service light in red indicates that the vehicle is over due for a vehicle service..OIL SERVICE.. If you don't have it done, it could all go wrong. Have the light reset after Service and then it will monitor for your next service.bye for now.
To reset CHANGE OIL SOON/OIL CHANGE REQUIRED message on the Message Center, press the STATUS control to access the System Check mode. Press the RESET button to display OIL LIFE _% RESET FOR NEW. Press and hold the RESET button until OIL LIFE IS 100% is displayed.
When "CHANGE OIL SOON" or "OIL CHANGE REQUIRED" is displayed on the Message Center, turn the ignition on. Press and hold "OIL CHANGE RESET' or the "RESET" button until "OIL LIFE RESET TO 100%" is displayed on the Message Center.
When "SERVICE" is illuminated, on the Message Center, press the "SYSTEM CHECK" button on the right of the display. Then press the "RESET" button. The "SERVICE" symbol and mileage will start to flash. Next, press the "SYSTEM CHECK" and "RESET" buttons at the same time. The display will show "7,200 miles/11,580 km" and will count down from there as long as the buttons are depressed. Release the buttons at the desired service interval.
When "SERVICE DUE" is illuminated on the Message Center, press the "CHECK OUT" button located below the display. Then press the "RESET" button. The display should now read "SERVICE DONE?" Next, press the "CHECK OUT" button and "RESET" buttons at the same time. The display will show "7,200 miles/11,580 km" and will count down from there as long as the buttons are depressed. Release the buttons at the desired service interval.
I have a 1999 Mercury tracer. I was driving down the highway two weeks ago and my check engine light came on. i went to autozone and he said something about misfire on bank and vacuum leak. He said it bascially was a tune up. i got in my car the next day and the light went off. it didnt come back on. Last sunday i got a tune up and a oil change. i was driving to work today when my service engine soon light came back on. could it be because its been warm here in st louis and all of a sudden its cold. or do i just need to get it reset. i hope its nothing major because im broke right now and cant afford to get it fixed
1) Turn key to position 2. 2) Press/release the R button to show the next service due light. Release button. 3) Turn key to Off. 4) Press and HOLD the same R button to view the service light, THEN, within 2 seconds, turn key to position 2. 5) Wait up to 10 second and the light will reset to show new service .
On a 2008, thurn the key to the ACC position. Hold down the reset button for about 10sec on the dash until the whole display starts flashing.
When the whole display is flashing, hold down the reset button again for about 10sec. the OIL LIFE will go to 100%.
I have an 06 with the display, you should have a button with MAINT to the far right side of the control center.
Turn the key on ACC,press MAINT button on right end, press down on the "enter" button then press "enter", you may need to move the :"enter" button up but usually it will be on the reset, (Reset) will be lit yellow when ready for you to press the "enter" button to reset it. You should see the Driving Distance bar dissappear/reset to the starting point.
Works for oil changes & tire rotation. You can set the specific distance with the same control, moving it left to right when it is in the "change" position.
Gauges reads as follow
Green LED = The fewer displayed closer to next service
Yellow LED = In conjunction with OIL SERVICE service or INSPECTION comes on when next routine service is due.
Red LED = a routine service is overdue.
Clock symbol in conjunction with INSPECTION = shows that an anual inspection is due.
