Question about 1991 Toyota Camry

1 Answer

My Toyto 1991 will not start. No noice at all!

It will start no problems when I jump start it. I replaced the batary and it did not help. I have a question, If I can jump start the car, is tells me that the starter is OK right, the batary is ok to so what left is the alternator. How do I check the alternator? It looks like the batary is not holding the charge. How do I trubleshoot the Alternator??

Thanks!

Sounds like you have a faulty bar inside the starter itself, have someone try to start the car while you take a bar or something that you can reach the starter with a tap on it, if it starts then tha starter needs to be replaced

1991 V6 3.0L Engine jumped time and now will not start. The engine will still turn over but won't fire.

If it actually jumped time you are going to have to open it up and replace the timing belt and reset the timing correctly to repair the problem. In addition, there may have been damage to the valves or pistons as a result of it jumping time so you will want to do compression checks and inspect the valves for being bet or pistons for damage if the compression is off in any cylinder.

When i go to start the car it does not turn the engine over the only thing it does are the lights and every thing come on an sum clickin noice but thats it dont hear the engine tryn to start at all

try to use some jump leads first if this works then you need to replace the battery,if not it is the starter solenoid of motor that has gone.turn of all electrical items before trying to start may help,as the drain will also show up a bad battery.

My 1991 240sx is jumping time how do i fix it

you'll most likely need to replace the timing belt and tensioner if it's jumping time, note;;if it's jumping time, does it keep starting? are you sure it's the time thats jumping or is that a guess?most 240's don't just restart after jumping time, they will not restart, unless you adjust the distributor. are you moving the distributor? to make it restart? if the car is just 'jumping' there may be another problem. such as a bad spark plug wire, or a bad plug. also could be a clogged fuel injector. if the car runs at idle byitself, try running fuel injector cleaner through it from the gas tank[recomennd lucas fuel injector cleaner] if not repaired then check for bad spark plug wire, if not that check plugs for a bad spark plug.hope this helps!!

Not starting

Make sure your getting spark to the plugs. It must be a good hot spark.
If that's okay then you might have a timing problem with the crank and cam. (Jumped time).
You'll need to check the timing marks on the crank and cam timing gears to make sure they didn't jump out of time.
Check for any vacuum leaks as well.
