The noise was most likely a seized pressure plate release bearing it may have worn through the pressure plate or destroyed itself, remember to replace the hydraulic slave cylinder while you have it torn down for repair.

if u mean clutch disk, pressure plate and TO bearing the answer is yes. also replace the slave cylinder. The flywheel will need to be machined as well.

My accent won'tgo in gear when let clutchout and it smells like burnt eggs and just screeches

At a guess here I would say that you are up for a new clutch kit. Test it by engaging 1st gear with the engine off--depress the clutch--start engine ---let out the clutch. If it just makes the noise and smells then it will be a clutch kit job.

Clutch makes a screetching noise when pressed in and cannot find gears while driving

Gregory, your throw out clutch bearing is worn. You should just install a new clutch kit.

1998 Volkswagen Jetta. The engine starts when in neutral but when I try to put it into gear, the clutch makes a spinning sound like metal on metal, but not engaging. What could be wrong.

The metal on metal sound may be a failed throw out bearing. If there is no sound when you do not use the clutch pedal but it start when you put your foot on the clutch then it is the bearing. I suspect that you will have to pull the gear box and have a clutch kit fitted along with a new clutch throw out bearing.

Why won't my 2009 Ford Mustang V6 go into gear after installing new clutch?

you need to bleed the the slave cylinder how you do this there is a bleeder valve on the slave cylinder first pump the the clutch pedel 5 times then open the bleeder valve on the slave cyl while holding the clutch pedal to the floor repeat process until you get clutch pedal pressure

Clutch problems

Hi bosslady15,

First of all I think I should say that clutches do not make grinding noises - but transmission gears do.
However, a clutch that is not disengaging properly can make the gears grind when trying to shift from one gear to the next. Also a common source of noise is the clutch throwout bearing. This will make a "grinding" or "growling" noise any time the clutch pedal is depressed. In either of these cases, the only solution is to replace the clutch, throwout bearing, pressure plate and pilot bushing. These all usually come in a clutch kit. If you have an hydraulic clutch with an internal slave cylinder it is recommended to replace the slave cylinder as well and also the flywheel on on vehicles. I'm sorry I cannot be more specific because you did not mention what type of vehicle we are talking about here.
