Open hood and on left fender are there are 3 relays. The first one toward front of car is the ASD relay or fuel pump relay.

Check for spark. Go to the distributor pull on of the wire and leave a 1/4 air gap and crank the engine do you have spark if you dont have spark your vehicle is equipt with a spark control module.depending on the engine you also may have a drop down resistor attatch to the positive side of the coil. Now if you gotspark and fuel find the engine temp sensor and disconnect it(If this sensor is not thermal negative if it fails it floods the engine).

My 87 chrysler new yorker won't start can u please give me an idea of what the problem might be? Also, can u please tell me where i would locate the fuel pump relay?


fuel pump relay is under hood, if you turn key to on/ not start, you should hear fuel pump run in rear of car for a few seconds. Try spark plugs

Where are the computers located on a 1990 new yorker?


what would make you think its the computer??. If you've troubleshot the problem to that kudos to you, but if you are wrong you could be spending alot of money on new computer that doesn't fix the problem. The problem you describe could be caused by a lot of components including idling components

check fuses and relays before suspecting the pump. if fuses and relays are good, access the fuel pump power connector and check volatage

It is in the fuel tank,the fuel tank will have to be removed.

there is a fuel pump fuse,and the ASD relay,Auto Shut Down relay.

No fuel being delivered to injectors, fuel pump not operating,


It most likely is a bad fuel pump, which is in the gas tank.
