Repace the valve cover gasket and the plug well seals if they are seperate from the VC gasket.

Pour a few drops of engine oil into the cylinders through the spark plug holes......to stop the bores being scored when turning over.

change the spark plugs and ribbed belts!

After engine warms up, at crusing speeds, it stalls as if the ignition is cutting out or the fuel pump is failing. I can turn the ignition off while still rolling, turn it back on and the problem go

you need a person to do , diagnosis. since it is repeatable, it can be found.
Ill presume you can not save the stall with a fast acting right foot, !!!
one can drive with a timing light attached, trigger taped down and see if in fact spark did go away.
there are only 3 fail paths. G16B engine , MAF based. MPI motor.
lost of compression hot. 98s have solid lifters , skipping the 60k mile service invites this failure. as does a snapped cam belt. do the service.
lost spark hot. (a tune up, cap,rotor,wire-set, spark plugs)
lost fuel (lost fuel pressure ) do a full fuel pressure test.
do at least the 5 tests, listed here.

I alwas check for vaccum leaks around the intake, these cause a lot of trouble. Always start with a good maintenace tune up before spendig a lot of money (sparks plugs, wires, etc.)

it has on plug coils you need to remove the coils to find the spark plug boots the spark plug bosses may be filled with water or even oil,if their is oil in the plug boss holes your valve cover is leaking the oil into the holes.

hi,
spark plug wires, fuel filter, air filter, or fuel pump might be getting ready to go. maybe a vacuum leak, hook it up to a vacuum gauge and see if the needle is steady, or take it to autozone and have them run a OBD test. I think its free at autozone.

1994 Suzuki Sidekick spark plug cover blown out.

Oh, ok. No, they shouldn't be related. The plug cover meaning the spark plug wire boot that goes over the spark plug hole? Why won't it stay in? Is the spark plug missing? Those plug wires snap onto the spaek plug holding the wire on the plug.. There should be a spark plug in the hole. If not, you probably had it blown out. That happens once in a blue moon. If the plug is missing, get a new one and carefully install it by hand, no rachet. If the plug won't start in the hole the first few threads mat be strippe. Do not cross-thread the new plug. Spark plug hole taps are available at parts stores. good luck
