I bought my fuel pump at Autozone for $275 ...Put in in myself..only takes about three hours..that includes draining gas tank..taking it off, changing pump and reinstaling tank..all by myself..outside on the bare ground..all includes a 1 yr waranty on the part..Sounds like you(sweet 1) has been getting ripped off..This is not as hard of a job that everyone makes it out to be. I've done it twice in the past year and a half..I'm a 40 yr old man in poor physical health and still can do this..lol..Still this part should have a better life......Warning...DON"T ever buy a pump made the company called ...Master... these are not a very good or reliable product...I found out the hard way...Our local Auto parts store stopped stocking these because of too many complaints, from other people in the same situation as we are. Don't pay the labor on this unless you have to...Thats how these people get rich.

I have the same problem, but once it warms up it starts just fine, just the first start of the day or when it has sat a while, it sputters a bit when it does start first time.

Does this occur when the engine is cold or at normal operating temperature?

Does this occur after the vehicle has been parked for a while after it has been warmed up?

    What engine do you have?

    Let me know.

I had the same problem and it was the fuel pump; i was toldby other chevy owners this is common; i have changed mine 2 times since i've had my truck;shop aroung because the cost is in the labor because the 2000 model needs to have the whole bottom of the truck removed to fix it- most cars have easier access ( Of Course)- I had it done at Merchants for $1150- shopped around this timeand had it done w/a mom and pop type place for $750 with a year warranty! Good Luck

I would take a look at the ECS (electronic coolant sensor). It has 2 wires connecting to it, 1 yellow and 1 black. If the sensor is not reading coolant temperature properly when the engine is cold, it will cause a lean cold start condition, spit and sputter until it cranks enough times to catch itself. A resistance check can be made on the sensor to verify sensor is correct if you are interested.
Let me know.
Regards,

If its been a while sense you chg. fuel filter do that, if filter is not an issue than its best to do a fuel pressure test, fuel pumps are a common problem with all G.M. cars and trucks.

2005 chevy trail blazer coil packs not firing won't crank.

If it won't crank the engine over, how do you know it is not firing? The engine has to be cranking to check for spark. If it won't crank, problem is in the starting circuit, not the ignition system. Test the starter.

98 Chevy blazer won't start up but will crank ,,

Try giving it a shot of starting fluid. You don't say if it's actually firing. If it tries or runs for a few seconds off of the starting fluid then try changing the fuel pump relay. It's inside of the glove box on the left hand side behind the little door. If that doesn't work it's most likely the fuel pump.

2000 chevy silverado just rebuit transmission, new starter, and checked all fuses. it cranks but will not fire (start) more I crank the more I smell gas. What could it be? why it will not start?

try checking the crank sensor. if a crank sensor goes bad or is damaged it will not allow the plugs to fire but you should still have fuel pressure. also check all connections.

2000 Chevy Blazer Cranks but wont start...

What about the fuel filter????? Have you changed it out??? If you can spary something like a started fluid, that means it is a fuel problem. My last check, it has to be above 50-psi on the fuel pressure to make it run right. I had 35psi, but whould not get over 30mph or down hill maybe 45mph. Check both filter & pressure, but check pressure with a New fule filter!!!!
