I have a VW Beetle and yesterday the car alarm started going off repeatedly. It was fine after a short drive and hasn't gone off again until this morning. It appears to be a problem with the boot senser as when the engine is turned on the sensor says the boot is open when it is not. I don't know where the boot sensor is and I can't deactivate the alarm because everything the manual suggests doesn't work!

My immobiliser keeps flashing until I put the key in the ignition and then it stops. Normally changing key batteries has a period that if the battery is changed inside that time (say 5 minutes) then the key program will not loose memory Run fault codes to see if there is a problem in the electronics. Otherwise you may have to take the car to the dealer to have the key reprogrammed to the cpu in the car
Hi.
Check the heavy duty cables from the battery to the starter motor and solenoid and also the battery earthing (grounding?) - there terminals could be corroded / burned.
Hope this helps you a bit. If it does, a "Fixya" rating would be much appreciated. If it doesn't
help you, I'd be grateful if you didn't bother with a rating at all. Just come back and tell me what you found. Cheers, D
