Question about 1994 Suzuki Sidekick

1 Answer

Smoke, smoke, smoke and alternator/fan belt shredded

1994 Suzuki Sidekick - the alternator/fan belt shredded one day when i took my daughter about 20 miles out of town to cash a cjeck. The shredded belt wrapped around the fan itself which caused the fan to stop running and the vehicle started smoking. I was able to make it back home with no problem. I know my vehicle needs a water pump and a new belt, but those people at the auto store keeps giving me the wrong size belt. Anyways, i went out to start up my vehicle, it was smoking unusually bad. My friend said that my engine locked up. I thought that if your engine locked up then you wouldn't be able to start the vehicle. I almost listened to what he said, but he's been wrong on many things and I was right. I have to constantly fill my radiator up everytime I drive. I guess that to had finally taken it's toll onn the vehicle. With the smoke and all and the belt is not moving in which I thing that's where all the smoke is coming from, the bearing might be bad aside from the pulley. WHAT DO YOU THINK?

antifreeze not staying in radiator. I know it needs a water pump. But someone said that my engine was locked. I know the vehicle won't start if the engine is locked. That was determined because of alot of smoke that was coming from it that's not happening now when it's started.

If 1994 Suzuki equip with air condition then please check the A/C compressor clutch.

The compress clutch can lock up on a defect ai/c pump and cause the belt to smoke.

Please check for a fail a/c pump first and get back to me.

An fair A/C pump can be bypass via an a/c pump bypass pulley (as picture below)
