Question about 1994 Toyota Camry
During cold weather, below 30 F, the car get extremely difficult to start, starter is fine, it has sparks, the engine has the swank sound, but it seems like the fuel couldn't get pass the engine. When the fuel does go through, it "jerks", you can hear the fuel getting in just like a person throw up, one at a time. Whenever I couldn't the "first ****", i will pour hot boiling water around the engine area to get the "****" going. I know it sounds really silly but it works! I have tried this several time. Normally if you leave the car unstarted overnight, like for 12 hours, it gives you this problem. If you only leave it for like 6 hours, you probably going to get the "****" easily and sometimes hot boiling water is not needed.
When weather is 40 F above or during summer time, the car start magically.
Question: Is it the fuel filter problem or some kind of temperature sensor is old?
Have been through three self acclaimed professional mechanic cant solve the problem.
Thank you for the answer, very much appreciated!
Hi you will find that the cold start injector is not working it is found near the throttle bodyand injects fuel to start when cold like aq choke on older cars . it may need replacing i suspect that it is either blocked or just worn out they are not expensive
