Timing belt broke? Wow. Waited too long for maintenance and now you got a busted engine.
Well, best thing to do is probably to disassemble the engine to see what got damaged after the timing belt broke, then go from there.
Alternatively you can buy another engine. Anywhere from 3000.00 to 6000.00. Might be able to get a good deal at a scrap yard.

Does a broken timing belt automatically mean bent vales?

No you don't always bend valves typically with 4 or 6 cylinder engines are equiped with free floating engines that when the chains or belts break it allows the engine from creating greater damage to other parts of your engine

300M 3.5 V6 2001 CHRYSLER JUMPED TIMING BELT OR BROKE CAR JUST QUIT AT STOP LIGHT

This engine is what is known as an interference engine, so if the timing belt lets go like this you most likely have bent engine valves and or piston crown damage. The best advice i can give is have a new belt, water pump and automatic tensioner pulley installed and see if it starts, you may get lucky, my wife did when hers let go a year before I meant er. You can purchase a timing belt "kit" with all the parts here is the part number and price.
ACDELCO Part # TCKWP295 TIMING BLET KIT- INCLUDES WATER PUMP
BELT KIT,TMG INTERFERENCE ENGINE APPLICATION PRICE $184.00 USD Source for parts price and number www.rockauto.com

Timing belt broke, does this car have a free floating engine

I'm not sure what you mean by "a free floating engine".
If your engine still runs you most likely broke the serpintine belt not the timing belt.
If you broke your timing belt you need to have your engine check over carefully. When the timing belt breaks the valve stop moving but the pistons keep going for a few revolutions. This usually ends up damaging your valves and/or your pistons. On rare occassions it can sometimes even damage the
head(s) or block.
DO NOT TRY TO START THE ENGINE BEFORE IT'S REPAIRED, THIS WILL RESULT IN MORE DAMAGE!
If you're planning on fixing this yourself you need to pay careful attention to the timing, you can have the timing marks perfectly aligned and still be off by 180°.
Once you have the belt fixed you'll need to do a compression test to see if there is any damage to the engine. If you have a difference of more than 10% on any cyclinder you'll need to take the head(s) off and check for damage.

Was told I need a fan belt. How do I know for sure if I do or don't.

There could be several fanbelts. If it's a serpentine belt, there's only one.

Belts need changing when they start developing cracks, cuts or there is obvious damage. This could hapen in the 30,000 - 60,000 mile range.

The price varies widely. I would guess the average to be $100 - $300.

Timing belt broke

I've heard that honda engines are made so that if your timing belt does brake theres enough room for them not to hit the valve cover, but hey i could be wrong only way to find out is to take off the valve cover and inspect

1999 escort zx2 timing belt broke

The ZX2 Zetec is a non-interference engine. This means the valves are not capable of touching the pistons at any time. If your belt breaks, there will not be any valve damage. There are reliefs cut into the top of the pistons that allow clearance for the valves if the belt breaks. Most engines are interference and will cause several hundred or even thousands of dollars of damage when a timing belt breaks. Most shop manuals list the ZX2 as interference but it is not. Many people seek out this how-to because a mechanic has informed them that they have valve damage and quoted a repair price over $1000.
