Either the replacement sensor the windscreen technician should have fitted isnt connected properly to the glass or it has developed an intermittant fault - quite common with Renaults especially megane scenics and grand scenics....

The problem you have comes from wiper blades causing friction in light rain conditions and can be cured by cleaning the rubber that contacts your windscreen with a rubber cleaner/conditioner or you can use spray silicone on the blades.
ill tell you all these rain sensors are new design and none of them work right, good luck with this one, ive had customers take back to dealer and they replie nothing is wrong that how they work, even went as far as replacing the rain sensor on windsheild, hope this helps.
a couple of thoughts:
Has your windshield just been replaced?
The sensor is up by the rear view mirror, is it plugged in all the way?
Do you have the right size wiper blades on your vehicle? (too short of a blade misses the rain sensor and does not wipe it clean)
How good are your blades? ( as above, to turn off the rain sensor the blade needs to wipe it clean)
The rain sensor works by projecting multipleinferred beams to the inside of the windshield, like a prism, they reflect back to collectors. when there is a water droplet on the outside of the windshield it changes a beams trajectory and it misses the collector thust turning on the wipers.
(yes, this all happens in that little sensor up by the rear view mirror.)
check to make sure the wiper switch is in the right position. also....I've seen rain sensors not work properly when the hood or doors are open.
hope this helps
I had to unplug mine at the sensor which up by the rear view mirror. I pulled the black plastic cap open unplugged it there, now it works like a normal wiper with control of the delay cycle. Hope this helps. Al
Hi, had the same problem, dont know if its same car tho 2003 megane, there s a grill where the windscreen wiper motor sits, there are two drain holes and they get blocked then the water spills backwards into the car and down into the footwell, i had to take the wipers off today and clear the blockage hopefully my car will dry out now
