Re: Changing Microfilter for 2004 BMW 530i
Hi, if you open the hood you will see 2 black microfilter housings on the left and right of the engine neer the windshield, on these you will have a bar clip, unclip these and the housing lid will be able to be removed, you then just lift out the microfilters and replace them, installing is the reverse of fitting, job done. hope this helps, regards mark.

The microfilter is an electrostatically charged filter that captures dust and pollen particles (down to 5 microns) that normally are drawn into the passenger compartment through the ventilation system. It is similar to the filter that you have in your home AC unit. Just like your house filter your BMW's microfilter should be changed also. The recommended interval is at every inspection #1 and #2. However, if your AC smells musty or you have decreased blower fan volume change it sooner.
sorry but if this vehicle is newer than 2005 then according to my alldata book its a dealer only diagnostic to put the service lights out and change the battery in the key .Anything to get more money through the dealers cash till ,
Remove glove box assembly. Remove filter cover, and then remove in-cabin microfilter.Take out in-cabin microfilter from blower unit. Replace with new one and reinstall on blower unit. Reinstall instrument lower passenger panel.
there are two, one on each side up near the windshield. pop down the
locking "bar" wire thing, and take a 13 mm socket, and unlock the half
turn hold down lock. then remove the micro filter housing, replace the
filter, and reinstall. it's an easy job
Hi aajabbar , this can be tricky if you haven't reset the cbs indicator before
first turn the ignition on so that you have all the ignition lights on and the engine not running, once the service indicator has cleared fom the display, press and hold the tripometer in until the display shows a triangle then the microfilter symbol, release the button then press and hold again untill reset shows, then release and press and hold again untill you have a sequence of lines on display, once this has happened release the button and turn off the ignition, once the ignition is switched on again the sevice indicator should have reset. you may wish to print these instructions and familiarise yourself with them before carrying out a reset. regards Mark.
