My 2004 dodge 1500 5.7 hemi is losing antifreeze its not overheating but I did notice vapor out the exhaust what could it be?

Hi Robin:
Probably a head gasket.
Happened to my '98 Dodge (360 thou Km) and basically wrote off the engine.
A temporary fix that might work would be to try aluminum radiator leak stop. Can't hurt.
If you want to try to track the problem down I'd suggest pulling the spark plugs and seeing if there are any with fouled tips. A compression test should help confirm the problem

How do I replace exhaust manifold on 2.0L 1999 plymouth breeze

you need to take the expnsion chamber off..(drop exhaust from engine back) next drill out old manifold bolts (be careful) you will need new bolts and a tap and dye set to rethread wholes possibly before connecting new manifold make sure engine is COLD. expans chamber is where pipes of exhaust connect to manifold, kind of a junction like. If you have aluminuim heads you will need a HIGH speed drill and will take a good deal of time and possibly a few nw bits to get old bolts out all the way. good luck hope this helps you out.

Cadillac engine overheating

Head gaskets.Nortstar engines use soft metal aluminum block, so over time heat and pressure makes the head bolts pull from the block. Not a easy fix. Drive train must be removed, head bolt holes drilled out. Do a block test on it for exhaust in coolant. Repairs run from $2500-$5500. Gud luc

My husband is trying to fix my 04 dodge ram 1500 4.7l, the computer says to replace the crank sensor and or cam sensor. the crank sensor was replaced a month ago. it wont stay running. but he doesnt know...

On the 4.7L, the cam position sensor is located on the right cylinder head (thats the passenger side) toward the front below the valve cover gasket. Not on the front of the head but on the side where the exhaust manifold is attched at the forward end of the head. The crankshaft position sensor is located on the same side (right) but is at the opposite end of the engine between the bell housing and the block. The crankshaft position sensor can be replaced without removing the engine or transmission, it just looks tight. Also, on the crankshaft position sensor, it slides out of a rubber gromet. Engine light comes on so they scan it and they told me egr valvue

The problem is that your EGR valve needs replaced. What these do is they allow a precise quantity of exhaust back into the intake manifold; Provides a great help for an efficient combustion process and improved engine performance, when thes go bad your perfomance drops off and it does not run as clean.
The EGR valve, or Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve, is a vacuum-controlled valve which allows exhaust back into the intake manifold in controlled amounts. The EGR valve can clog and get contaminated over time by carbon buildup, at which point it will require replacement. A malfunctioning valve can cause the engine exhaust pressure to drop and send engine warnings to the computer. It can also cause engine back pressure to drop, reducing gas mileage and engine
This is for a dodge ram, as I have no idea what car you have but this is a general tip.
  • Locate the EGR valve in the engine bay. The year and make of the Dodge vehicle determine where the valve is located. This is on the front of the engine block, next to the timing belt in model-year 2005 and newer trucks. In older vehicles you will typically find the valve behind the engine, near the firewall.

  • Unclip the exhaust tube from the side of the valve. You can do this by hand. Shift the tube from side to side until it slides off.Use a flat-head screwdriver to remove the EGR valve from the exhaust tube. There is a screw on each side of the tube.

Disconnect the harness from the EGR valve. Use your hand to pull up on the tab and slide the harness from the valve.

Use a flat-head screwdriver to remove the two screws that secure the EGR valve to the cylinder head. Remove the EGR valve and clean the surface of the cylinder.

Attach the new EGR valve to the cylinder head and tighten it down with the same screws that were previously installed.

Reattach the harness and reattach the exhaust tube to the valve. Tighten the two flat-head screws that hold the tube to the valve.

Reattach the hose to the valve and use your hand to attach the clip to the hose.

Spark plug threads in the the aluminum head was ruined. Have to pull the motor to replace the heads. Not sure how to get a engine hoist to fit.

some dealers have special tools to do this in the car. Call a few and ask them. Did plugs break off in head? Or were threads damaged when plugs were removed
