There are many aditives but to tell you the truth they are a waste of money they just quiet the but in turn they are harsh on the rest of the engine it is better to replace them then to use aditives

Can lifters be replaced

Oh yea, lifters can be replaced , best if you replace cam an lifters together ! Loud knocking is not usually associated with lifters , they usually make a ticking noise ! Knocking noise is most usually in the bottom of the motor , main or rod bearings . most of the time rod bearings !

Something is wrong with my toyota pick up the engine started knocking and oil pressure is not like before it dont go up and down it goes up to half and stays there could it be clog on my 1990 pick up

I would first recommend flushing your engine with Diesel Fuel. What you should do is Add 1.5 Quarts of Diesel Fuel to the Engine. Once you do this, Idle the truck for 20 minutes. What this will do is remove all the Carbon Build up and Sludge.

Then Remove the Oil and Filter and replace with a new one and add 20W-50 and then see what happens to the Oil Pressure.

If the Knock does not go away, then you need to look at if it is an Upper Noise (Lifters) or Lower (Rod Bearings)...

Good Luck

I have a 99' malibu and my lifters are knocking it

Before doing anything, check to make sure the oil is full. If it is, you can add marvel oil to it which will clean out any varnish buildup inside the lifters. You could also try using lucas engine additive which is a viscosity improver that often quiets the lifters. If you have low or no oil pressure, do not run the engine....that indicates a serious internal engine problem....usually worn or failed engine bearings. No chem will fix that. if either treatment fails to work in a few days, you may need to take the engine apart and check the camshaft and other valvetrain components for wear.

Top engine knock when first start engine. And knocking when 3/4 quart low oil. lht661@juno.com e-mail

It sounds like a weak lifter. When the oil is down 1/2 quart, add 1/2 of dextron ll instead of oil. This will help fill the lifter so it won't collapse again. Also look down the hole when you take of the oil cap and make sure it isn't filled with engine sludge. If you see some, get it cleaned out by a garage.

There is a knocking noise under hood think it may be a lifter is that something that can be fixed with out going to a shop?i put some lucas oil in it the noise stoped for a day our so i dont wount to have...

Have you checked the oil level on the dipstick? Low oil would cause the lifters to make a ticking sound. This noise will be coming from higher in the engine like under the valve covers. If the oil is full, you may have a lifter that is sticky. There are products you get at any auto parts store to add to your oil to free up sticky lifters and quiet them. However, you said it's a knocking noise. Knocking would also result from low oil level. Seriously low! If the oil is full and you have a knocking noise, it could be main bearings, connecting rod bearings on the crank or the pins on the top end of the connecting rods that hold them to the pistons. It could also be the piston skirts banging on the side of the cylinder due to worn rings. Any of these knocking noises would come from lower in the engine like in the block. Again, there are products to add to your oil to add extra cushion between surfaces to quiet this situation but you may not be far from a major overhaul. You didn't mention how many miles are on the engine but very low oil levels could have damaged any of these parts quickly.
Hope this helps. Good luck. I hope it's low oil or stciky lifters.

Just started getting a loud knocking noise comming from under my valve cover ...noise might be from push rods or lifters dont know is there something i can do to clean up the ports that feed oil to...

what I would try first is replace the oil pump. you say you're not getting oil to your lifters. no oil pressure is a sign of bad oil pump. I had a ford fairmont do the same thing, and once I replaced the oil pump; put a WIX oil filter on. and used a blended(syn and reg) oil, it fixed it. don't start anymore until you've done this.

It could very well be a valve or lifter. The low oil may also cause the lifters or rods to knock.
As long as you aren't loosing oil or coolant, jeep runs good, and the knocking is not extreme, than add oil and you should be ok.

Knocking until car warms up

Sounds like a lifter noise. worn lifters can't keep oil in them anymore so over night the oil leaks out. when you start the vehicle, you will hear a ticking noise or knocking noise till the lifters fill with oil again. only remedy is to replace the lifters.
you could try an additive but it's temporary.
