Car can be driven , but eventually just stops - usually in the middle of a busy street - then has to be pushed or towed. Later it will start, maybe driven, but eventually repeats the problem. New fuel pump, but engine appears to not be getting fuel. Local mechanic has 6-8 hrs in it and has given up. Beieives its an electrical problem, but can not track it down

Have you checked the fuel relay fuse. under the hood? It will do that very thing. It may very well be your fuel pump also. I would start with the cheapest method and go from there.

2000 buick park avenue where are the vaccum hoses located on the evap sytem my check engine wont go off codep0442

that code is indigitus to the purge solinoid
if the purge solinoid gets stuck or fails you get a red light follow the lines that come off the engine the purge is eather on the back of the engine or firewall
also check you steel lines under your car to make sure that you don.t have a bent or hole in them also check or have you cap checked

Car want start

If it cranks and then die, the typical resistor trick won't work. Same problem as I had on mine and this is the only thing that was able to save it: http://newrockies.ca/vatsbypass

Here there is a detailed write-up on passlock and passkey: http://newrockies.ca . The guy is great, and this was the only way I was able to save my Park Avenue. I see it applies to your model too.
