1983 Dodge ramcharger-headlights do not work, all other lights do

CHECK YOUR BULB AND IF THERE IS CURRENT COMING THROUGH TO IT

IF THEY ARENT WORKING WHEN LIGHTS ARE ON SOUNDS LIKE DEAD SHORT. OR ELSE ITS IN THE SWITCH

check your fuses,and the bulbs, in some cases the headlight switch controlls the lights in the instrument pannel,check it to

get a volt meter and star checking voltages at the sockets and especially the grounds

start by changing your tail light bulbs ( with the correct bulbs) and check the ground points for the lamp assemblies. are fuses ok?

check fuses. If fuses are good use a voltmeter at the connections to see if you are getting power. If you are not then you will have to run down a short in the wire.

If fuses are good, then you will need to get to the headlight switch itself. You will need to uninstall it to the point that you can check to see there is voltage to the switch. Turn the switch on and check to see if there is voltage coming out. IF there is no voltage coming out at the switch, then replace

i also have an 89 ramcharger and my general fuse fuse box us under the dash drivers side next to the ashtray

sounds like the contacts in the headlight switch have gone bad.. the switch needs to be replaced - I have seen this more than once...usually due to someone installing "high performance" headlight bulbs that pull additional current causing the light switch to "fry" over time.
first do yourself a favor, and test the bulb from one headlight, just to make sure the bulbs arent both burned out.

Check all fuses, plus connections of any smaller gauge wires at battery posts.
