1998 F 150 regular cab paint peeling problems

If you can help, I would very much appreciate it. I notice that paint is beginning to peel off on the outer front wheel wells. Do I just reprimer, and spot paint, or is this a problem that Ford is aware of and will repair.
Thanks Cal

Ford will not assist on a 1998 vehicle because of the age.
You can primer and spot paint but it would probably do better if you sanded it down first.

This is a problem with the factory paint process, there is no primer used on this by the factory, the coating under the color coat is the anti corrosion coating, problem is the color coat does not stick to this coating, water gets under the color coat and in the end the color coat peels off, Ford repainted 1000's of trucks free of charge, I know this because I was employed by a large Ford dealer during this paint peeling episode. You must grind down the truck to bare metal and apply primer for your repaint to hold, there is no other way, that comes right from the factory repaint instructions, Ford paid 30 hours per truck.

Have shutters front of house fadded...tried everything except paint...sun fadded terribly....any ideas to bring back luster? Tried Amoral but rain washed off..ideas appreciated.

several mfg of coatings nowdays offer , spray applied coatings that work on plastic and tin shutters well, ask at your local paint store for them , also make sure you remove the silicone coatings you have applied previously to allow coatings to stick properly

Peeling paint on cinderblock walls in basement

Just a guess, but it is likely that moisture is causing the paint to peel. I suggest you remove as much peeling as you can with a wire brush and then use a waterproof sealant. I had very good luck with a product they sell to seal cement walls in basements with moisture problems.

While washing my van noticed paint peeling off in center of my roof of van

This is normal in a high sun type climate ,they all peel of flake as the laquar comes off due to the UV please dont blame the manufacturers but blame the enviromentalisats who insist that cars are painted with water based paints

Paint peeling on my ford f-150

Yes there was a couple of manufacturers who had that problem over the years, I've heard everything from wrong primer, different coating on bare metal before priming, to improper prepping of bare metal before primer, but either way, a good body shop will know how to deal with it. There was some of the manufacturers that were giving warranty on these for first owners, and some even covered second owners, but my guess is that your out of that range for one reason or another if not time itself. if your going to re-do the tailgate yourself, do your best to take it down to bare metal and prep it properly before you re-finish it.

Paint peeling on my ford f-150

I have actually fixed these trucks under warranty. The EPA is the root cause of this, and lack of testing the newer system, this problem is pretty much of the past as the newer vehicle have a better system on them to complie with EPA regs.

This is not an uncommon problem with vehicles that are left outside most of the time. There are three Dodge trucks in my neighborhood with this same problem, Solution - a new paint job.

Hi,i recently used a DUPLI-COLOR CLEARCOAT TOUCH UP PAINT on 2 small areas where the clearcoat had peeled off when i replaced an emblem on my 1995 Deville. It is a bit noticeable when light shines at a certain angle--but more importantly, IT STOPS THE CLEARCOAT FROM PEELING OFF ANYMORE.

Paint peeling on Dodge Dakota truck

yes there is only if your origional owner past that its responisbility of new owner to have painted over its in the sales contract that you received if you are origional owner of vehicle this is a paint defect that dodge has to handle and if service guys wont handle it go to the top man in the building and i mean the top man in charge he will do whats right for you
service only tells you what you want to hear
vehicle history will show if they fixed the problem once before if this is the case this will be a little harder to convince
and if dealer doesnt help file complaint with attorney general then i know the dealer ship will have to cooperate
