Do you have an oil pressure guage, not a needle type, one with numbers? if so what does it say? The ticking nose is a problem somewhere in the valve train. More often or not a lifter. But lifters, usealy don't go bad unless something else makes them, like a wore out camshaft, a weak or broken valve spring, a bent push rod. If has low oil prressure tho, it could be either a cloged oil pump filter or a week pump itself. If the smoke is black its a Fuel problem be it Injected or carberator running to rich. White smoke is engine trouble in like needs rebuilt or replacing..good luck

This sounds like the valve lifter tapping. Make sure you have the correct amount of oil in engine case first. If so............This noise isnt anything that is going to make the car blow sky high, but the valve train needs to be adjusted when you get time and $$$$$...RC

When the car starts does it miss , as if a spark plug wire is off????? If not , I dont think you have a bad lifter.....Adjustment is necessary yes!!

You might have a bad hydraulic valve lifter (assuming this engine has them)... you could try an aftermarket product designed to unstick valve lifters.... any auto parts store carries them.

My 1998 Daewoo Leganza DTec Manual has a leaking rocker cover gasket, it starts smoking really bad after it warms up +- 6km, and sometimes I hear a double knock sound when accelerating, and the smoke gets really bad while driving, there is oil coming out by my air-intake/fuel system, the mechanics say my motor is messed but can't tell me the actual problem, I am taking it too a Deawoo mechanic tomorrow, but any ideas what it could be? The tappet/lifters are making a ticking noise. My oil and filter was changed a week ago.

How do I remove the camshaft cover on a 2001 daewoo leganza?

all you do is first remove the centre spark-plug plastic cover, they are just allen-key screws, then more of the same M6 screws holds down the black plastic cover over the cams..I took it off an old Daewoo 2.0 motor i have off to expose the cams just the other day..

This is covered by Daewoo under warranty. Contact DaewooUSA and they will send you instructions and warranty information. I had mine fixed under warranty in September, 2010. They paid for everything, new sensor, new wire, new fuse link.

How to replace the valve cover gasket from a 1999 daewoo leganza

A simple fix. Remove the valve cover from atop the engine. Be careful not to drop any crud into the engine! Place a towel or some rags to preevnt this. Scrape the mating surfaces carefully to avoid gouging the metal. Use a wooden tool id possible to remove any stuck on sealant. Apply gasket sealer as instructed, carefully mate the gasket to the cover and re-attach.

The timing marks for a 1999 daewoo leganza

Both cams have a notch in their edges, those go straight up parallel with each other pointing at the marks on the valve cover. Crankshaft pulley also has a mark that lines up with a mark on the timing belt rear cover.

Locating camshaft positioning sensor on 2000 Daewoo Laganza

hi,
it is under the upper timing belt cover between the camshaft gears. According to the manual touching anything related to timing belt requires removing million parts including right front wheel. I suspect this might be an overkill just to remove upper timing belt cover.

So my advice would be to get it done by some mechanic as u will not be able to do it and may damage other parts also.

Thanks!
Sandy
