I have a 1994 Ford Thunderbird won't start someone said may be neutral start switch what is that and where is it located

Either on the side of the transmission or the shifter assembly. It keeps the car from starting in gear, drive or reverse, allowing it to only crank in Park or neutral. Keeps someone from accidently cranking it in gear and running over someone or into something .

1994 ford thunderbird sc when i put it in gear it wont move but i can drive in reverse

If your fluid levels are OK, could sound like a problem with the Torque Converter; also dissamble and check Trans Valve Body.

Hope this helps.

Transmission problem 1994 ford t-bird 4.6 LX

It's probably not the tranny. I had a random downshifting problem with mine, and sometimes it wouldn't even go into any gear. It turned out to be the 6-position switch on the side of the tranny that your gearshift handle controls. Evidently, something spilt through the colsol and gummed up the switch, causing random signals to be sent to the computer, which then told the tranny to shift. For around $200.00, replace the switch before letting someone talk you into rebuilding the tranny.

Our 1994 thunderbird only runs in reverse . Is that a transmission problem?

The Trans. pump works better in reverse than in forward gears so I would say that the Fluid is low or the pump needs work.

1994 thunderbird v6 auto trans AOD won't shift into high gear or over drive

Check to see if there is a vacuum line going to the transmission. If there is, check to see if the line is split or connected on the other end. Then check ATF level. If it has been a long time since the trans was serviced a new filter could help. There shouldn't be any extra parts or shavings on the trans pan.

AOD trans wont shift when cold

Ok I have no Idea who told you not to change the fluid? However there is a reason you have to drop the pan to drain it, or change filter and the reason for this is. So you cant just change fuild and leave dirty filter in, or change filter and leave dirty oil in. Your wouldnt just change one or another on your motor would you? lol Anywho your problem is either burnt fuild. Yes the fuild can be come burnt and lose it vascoity, and weight. (basicly your runing gravey through it.) lol Or the fuild is termendously dirty strained or not. FYI there are clutches in your transmission.... Have you ever heard of clutch dust? Well in an automatic because of the fuild its not clutch mud..... explaining why when its cold and the oil is super thick it has problems, but when it thins up when its warm its fine.

Is it my transmission

your trans fluid needs changed and the engine light is 9 out of ten times something to do with your emissions - take it to auto zone and have them scan the computer for free

The first thing you need to fix is the fact that it will not go into park. I think the shift lever is maladjusted. There should be a way to adjust it near the transmission. Get this dealt with because I am thinking it could be a simple problem. If after you get it adjusted, it still does not immediately kick in to drive, then I think you have a serious tranny problem. You did not say how many miles were on the car, but if it has high miles (more than 100,000) and it has not ever been rebuilt, then it will probably need to be. The trannys in these Explorers were notoriously bad.
