HELLO; I HATE TO SAY ,BUT I HAVE TO BE HONEST A CAR SITTING FOR 7 MO. IS ALMOST AS A HOUSE NOT BEING LIVED IN! THE ELEMENT'S AND NOT KEEPING THE MOVING PARTS MOVING IS BAD, SO LET ME GIVE U SOME THING U CAN DO AND SOME THINGS U MUST REPLACE AND SERVICE! FIRST IS THEIR ANY GAS IN THE TANK IF SO IF ITS UNDER A QUARTER TANK ADD AT LEAST 10 GALLON'S, OVER A QUARTER TRY TO SIPHON IT OUT TO A QUARTER AND DO AS ABOVE! NEXT CHANGE THE OIL AND FILTER, CHECK ALL THE FAN BELTS FOR CRACKS AND JUST THEIR OVERALL CONDITION. REMOVE THE LOWER RADIATOR HOSE, AFTER U DRAIN THE RADIATOR AND THEN REMOVE THE TOP HOSE AND TAKE A HOSE AND FIRST RUN WATER INTO THE LOWER HOSE INLET AT THE BOTTOM OF THE RADIATOR REAL WELL AND THEN THE SAME FOR THE TOP, FLUSH IT GOOD,RECONNECT HOSES FILL WITH 50/50 ANTIFREEZE&WATER, THROUGH AWAY THE BATTERY, INSTALL A NEW ONE. IF U CAN BEFORE U START THE ENGINE DISCONNECT THE COIL WIRE AND MOVE IT ASIDE,U SEE THE MOST WARE HAPPENS TO AN ENGINE EACH TIME ITS STARTED SO WHAT IM SUGGESTING IS TO TURN THE ENGINE OVER,JUST BY TURNING THE KEY AND DISABLE IT FROMSTARTING RIGHT AWAY, WE NEED TO GET AS MUCH OIL UP INTO THE TOP OF THE ENGINE AS POSIABLE,BECAUSE AFTER 7 MO THEIR IS NONE UP THEIR, THESE THINGS SHOULD REALY BE CONSIDERED BE FOR U START YOUR ENGINE, THE ALTINATOR AND FULE PUMP IN THE GAS TANK ARE A **** SHOOT, ONCE U GET IT RUNNING PUT A 93 OR BETTER OCTANE GAS IN IT, WITH A GOOD INJECTOR CLEANER. HOPE WE HELPED AND GOOD LUCK TO U..

2005 lincoln aviator on fifth battery in nine years. Why?

Motorcraft Batteries?

In my Lincoln L/S, the first one lasted 3 1/2 years & was done under warranty

Second one lasted 5 years

Now that one failed two weeks ago at 20 months

In my case the battery is in the trunk & you can't find a battery with
a vent for that car & ford batteries are on odd size, just for their
design or group size,go figure

The Motorcraft Max is free for 3 years & pro rated for 100 months,
so not a bad deal.

IF you have a big enough battery tray & a basic looking battery,
try the NAPA Legend Batt 8465 750 CCA 65 BCI (group size)

They are from East Penn MFG in Penn & plants in other states & their own brand is DEKA in the private parts stores

What I like is that there are no caps on top & no leaking, just like
the old AC Delco I used for 40 years & got 7 to 9 years out of them

I have had a Napa in my 30 year old blazer for two year so far

The question, well I think it is part battery & part the load the electronics puts on the batteries

When I open the trunk & have only the trunk light on & with a
new or old battery, I only get 12.3 volts

I get the same thing on my scan tool data when I turn off the car
& then put the key on,yet all data is good KOEO or Engine Running.

I had a dead battery last night, I boosted the battery and now the altinator is not charging. Is there a fuse or a relay that might have blown?

Boosting a dead battery is an unsafe act

You always attempt to charge with a battery charger

Can not charge a dead battery with alternator either

Unless it is 2 years old I would replace it

So whenever I am driving my 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo in the winter (I live in ND so it gets pretty cold) when I brake my lights seem to dim and my battery voltage meter kind of acts up. Is it time...

Do you know how old the battery is?
Do you know if it is the correct one for your vehicle?
Have it tested at a shop or a parts store, if they do that.
You install the correct group size for your vehicle, again,
parts store can look at it or look that up.
There is no time to replace a battery. Some last 3 years.
All mine last 7 to 9 years
You install the largest CCA Battery yhat fits your vehicle,
especially in a cold climate. Approx 770 to 800 CCA
That suggestion is out, because you want cheap.
A good battery will cost you $110.00

You need to diagnose the cause of the dimming lights and volt meter issues.
The alternator needs to be tested.
Put a volt meter on the batt terminals, and get a reading, then turn everything
on and see if it is able to charge with a slight increasing in engine speed

(2005 cadi sts) I can drive this vehcile for months and, if I do not use it and, put it in the garage for a couple of weeks the battery drains. Ive had it in the shop and, the dealer could find nothing...

Sounds like the battery is a drain on it, check with an ammeter on the red or black wire to see how much. Shouldn't be over .2 A normally.

Also can try changing batteries, as when some batteries get old they do not hold a charge.

If you have the original battery, it's 5 years old.

Typically, batteries last 3 years on average.

(Battery No Charge Message)

Yep.... the tired old battery may have cooked the alternator. If your lucky , maybe it is just the belt. Could be loose wire , or dirty connection on back of alternator too.
Alternator should not be THAT expensive , and an 85 caddy should be easy to get at alternator.
If a mechanic has quoted you lots of $$$ , check with another mechanic. Stay away from chevy dealership , or any dealership for that matter. They waaaayyyy overcharge. If their book says it is a 2 hour job , thats what you pay for , even if it only took them 20 min.
