gear shifter as transmission inside it. well best replace transmission or you'll need a pulley and few sockets. as the shift. the shift you pull the knob or act as if you are prying it out it stay out. once out far enough push down on the bottom sparkling part of the stick. once down pull knob. then fallow the screw on side for removal.
if its the same as reset service light then hold in the right hand clock button on the facia and whilst holding it in switch on the ignition....release the right hand button and then turn the left hand button to the right...this resets the service indicator light and may help with your problem Cheers Colin
Sounds like the headlight switch itself... You can verify by removing the switch and checking continuity across the switch (with a meter or powered test light) in the on position... hope this helps...;-)
press your mileage reset button then turn key on then off,then repeat,2nd time keep mileage reset button pressed(keep pressed all the time basically)while holding mileage reset left turn your didgital clock then your service light should be off! ive done it on my 05 plate passat.
