Mcdevito75 here, The battery light indicates the charge the alternator is putting back into the battery, a regulator in the alternator allows only a certain amount of electricity to be built up. Sounds like the regulator in the alternator is shorted and draining the battrey, Have your repair shop test the alternator and replace.

My 1989 Chevrolet Celebrity won't start but all the lights work.

I would start by checking all of my fuses. Next, make sure your engine is getting gas. You can hear your fuel pump kicking on when you first turn the key. If you don't hear a buzz sound for a second, that could be the problem. To be honest, it could be many things from a ECM to spark plugs and wires. If you can get it read for codes, that would be the best solution. This will save you time and probably a lot of money. It will give you a starting point. But, check your fuses. A blown fuse in the right place can cause this.

Your problem is the ignition module that is mounted under the ignition coils. This would have to be a 2.5. Good luck

1989 chevy celebrity stalling

seems to be like you might have a transmission problem possible with the lock up solenoid system,
try to pull codes and see if you get any codes from the car with a scan tool,
some transmission codes will not turn the light on.
