Try removing the fuel pump /sender unit and see if the gauze filter is blocked first ,look into tank with a torch and make sure their isnt a plastic bag in the tank ?? also check the wires for overheating that lead into pump from connector block

My 1994 Jeep grand cherokee starts n idles but then dies.

Engine stall or RPM fluctuates at idle.

This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control

I have a jeep cherokee 2003 it starts but turns off after a short time & has a ratteling sound now

Check engine light on? Will the car continue to run and drive if you took it for a ride or once you start it up after a short time it dies and can't drive it out of your drive way? When it Shuts off will it restart with no problems?

My grand cherokee stalls when shifted in reverse. It dies immediately. this is an intermittent problem. I was told it was a solenoid in the trans controlled by the transmission ecm.

I had a similar problem with my gc 4.0. It would stall when shifting from reverse to drive but not all the time. Also erratic gear changing up and down and slipping. I took it to a garage and had the transmission filter and fluid changed (but it may be something some people can do there self if mechanically minded) And this cured the problem and have alot smoother gears. I did use the Jeep ATF +4 which was recommended not dex 2 so fingers crossed i dont have any more problems.

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee stalling and not starting

Since you've replaced many of the usual suspects (fuel pump etc.) you might want to look into testing or simply replacing the crankshaft position sensor or the camshaft position sensor. If you intermittently lose one the these signals it would cause the problem you describe.
