Question about 2001 Chevrolet S-10

1 Answer

Front Differential I am working on a 1992 chevy s10 drivers side differential. I am looking for a tool to get out this nut on the spindle after you get past the seal. (It looks like a 4x4 hub tool for a ford f150 but only 1 1/2 in diameter) JEFF

Go to your local chevrolet dealership and check with the parts dept. tell them what you are looking for and they will give you the factory gm part# to the tool and they may have in stock. this is the best way to get the proper tool. parts stores sometimes are not the most knowledgeable on there spaciality tools they can get unless you can speak to someone who has been there awhile. good luck happy wrenching

How do I remove the spindle axle on a 2001 dodge ram 1500 2wd? And what is the name of it exactly?

The spindle is what holds the front tires on. The axle is what holds the rear tires on. To remove the spindle, you have to remove the brake caliper first the remove the ball joint nuts. hit the spindle were the ball joints go in. The shock will release the ball joints. To remove the axles, you have to remove the differential plate, spin the differential until you see the bolt that locks the center pin in. remove both. push in the axle and remove the C clip. pull the axle out.

1994 chevy s10 blazer drive shaft only turns to the left when engine is off and in neutral

Front drive shaft? Look to the front differential. Rear shaft shouldn't turn at all on the ground. Then look at the T case.

1992 chevy selverrado removing rear differential gears

- Jack it up and place it securely on jack stands.
- Drain Differential and remove differential cover.
- Remove wheels.
- Look inside the differential where the axle end is visible. There should be a circlip that you have to remove. Then you can slide the axle out which allows you to get to the differential gears.

Have a 1985 chevy s10 pick up & the 4 wheel drive wont engage. I already replaced the solenoid on top of the transfer case, & it still wont engage. I can hear the transfer case engage & I have vacum at the...

Make sure that the vacuum hose connector is connected AND connected correctly at the transfer case and at the front differential. If that is all right and the front differential still doesn't engage, then you need to test the vacuum actuator at the front differential.

My front differential is leaking!

I cannot see it, but I am guessing that you need to replace your axle seal. To do this, you have to pull your CV shaft out. Remove the tire, remove the caliper from the top of the rotor. Using a hammer on the back, remove the rotor. Take off the spindle (axle) nut, separate the axle (CV shaft) from the hub. Replace seal. It should pop right out. Good luck!
