99 Dodge Durango wont start when its cold

My durango wont start when its cold unless I put my foot on the gas untill its warm then it runs fine. I took it in and they cleaned the accelerator and I just put a new battery in and its still doing the same thing. Before I would have to put my foot on the gas for 20min to warm it up enough for me to drive, now I just need to do it for about 5min. any ideas as to what it might be?

Could be a faulty idle air control motor not responding to normal open loop operation. when it warms up it is in closed loop operation therefor its going off the sensors which tell the psm the air/fuel ratio and what it needs to be. so all in all could be many things; IAC motor, PCM, Intake Manifold leak. suggest taking to a shop.

I had the exact same problem with my 1999 dodge durango not starting in the cold after not being driven for more than two to three days in a row. Battery was replaced, charged, etc but the same thing would happen again. Finally it was towed to a dodge dealership in Long Beach and they completely removed the z-lock system and it started right up.

Loud ticking noise when first staring, engine stalls sometimes when starting it unless I hold the gas pedal down

The TPS would be what I would do had that problem once myself solved the problem. as for the ticking noise sounds like a lifter is bleeding down as long as the noise goes away you will be ok. But may I suggest that if you are going to keep the vehicle for awhile longer you might want to have a set of lifters put in it.

Pound ticking noise when my 99 durango starts goes away after the engine warms up

The ticking noise could be a faulty hydrulic valve lifter. When last was the oil & filter changed, it coul be that the oil is thick and not going through to the lifters and when it warms up the oil is thin. It could be that the engine is need of an overhaul as 148.000 miles is 238.182 Kilometers and that is a hi milage.

Dodge drango 2000 will not idle in cold weather until warmed-up

I would test, or replace my IAT sensor . (Intake air temperature sensor)
If it's defective, it will send wrong signal, thus wrong mixture for cold engine.

2003 Dodge Durango (5.9L V8) won't stay running unless you keep your foot on the gas.

Check temp sensor and TPS, throttle positioning sensor. The power control module,"pcm.is a possible thought.Just check all connections. It is always a good idea to spray WD 40 or equivalent in the connections.

My 99 dodge durango wont stay cranked without holding down the gas and it only happends when it the motor is cool and after holding the gas down and reving the motor for about 10mins or more it will stay...

hey that sounds familiar!have you checked your idle control sensor? let me tell you 1st you crank it cold, you have to keep your foot on the gas pedal until it warms up.but then when you come up to red light quick stop, the engine dies or wants to stop? sometimes it starts fine? but when it does, after running for a few minutes,it idles up and down? when it's warm after driving 15miles or so,you shut it off and try a restart, and the engine starts, but idles up and down? all of the above are signs of a bad idle control sensor.the part costs about $20.00 u.s. 2bolts removal 1 PLUG IN REMOVAL you may be able to do it yourself.have an autozone or advance autoparts store employee show you where it's located.you would be shocked at how many great people there are left in the world! i'm answering your question for free at midnight from the u.s. think i'm bored? no. just love helping people like you! thank you so much!

New battary now car stalls

did you clean the batt connectors when you installed new batt. if terminals are corroded they produce a volotage drop that some of the electronics in the car will see as no voltage to the chips

1999 durango wont idel on its own untill warmed up

the IAC motor is probably sticking...it controls the idle. Try pulling it off and cleaning it out...or just replace it
