Basically no it's not... well not legally. look up odometer tampering in your state/province country

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Have a 1997 toyota tazz 1.3.My car cut out when i stopped at a robot and would not start at all.Car has enough petrol in it.could someone please help.

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you remove the positive battery cable, let it sit for atleast 5mins. then reconnect it again. Sometimes the car's computer needs to be reset for it to operate normally again.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Hi,I fitted a brand new motor in my car and would like to reset analogue odometer on my 1997 toyota conquest. Can u please assist?

Did you already take a look by the plastic in front of the meters if there is or are screws? There should be some way to take that part of the dash of. then with some tweezers, after removing the plastic, you can carefully turn the dials. to your desired number.btw, turn them with the clock, not against the clock.
hope you'll find the screws and get it open.
greetings........Gilbert.

Toyota Corolla 1.3 2e

Hi,

To my knowledge, it should not loosen up by itself. If it does, then it is possible that they are worn out and must be replaced. Alternately, on some engines I have worked with, there is a locking nut that is used to tighten in place the adjuster stud or in some cases a double nut, that is one nut to lock in place and another to lock the first. On high revving bike engines, I also use locktite (superglue). Of course the pieces must be initially clean of oil otherwise the glue will not adhere.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
