My 2005 Grand caravan has an intermittant hard shift/skip shift when shifting from low to second. It does it ocassionally and seems to do it when it is hot and not when you first start driving....it does it most frequently in stop and go traffic. no lights are on and on the highway it runs out great...it may go days without doing it, then sudenly do it repeatedly. I am frustrated....help!

Re: My 2005 Grand caravantransmission issue
The Dodge vehicles have an external solenoid pack that runs the trany. My experiance the solenoid pack starts to leak trany fluid into the electrical conector.Sometimes you can clean the fluid out with a spray cleaner and compressed air and it will temporaly fix the problem. If it does you know the solenoid pack will need to be replaced.

You don't have any money your willing to spend, for any reason, to diagnose any of the vehicles issues You don't trust any type of repair shop So how do you keep yourself in vehicles that actually get you around? I would get rid of it,give what i know about the vehicle & I have no idea why your here ,when no shop should deal with you .
Sounds like a transmition issue, it might be low on fluid!? If its an automatic that is, if its a standard and its hard to shift into 1st then could be a master sullinod pressure plate that is stuck in the clutch.
Either way, thats not good and I would recommend taking it to a mechanic. I would check the Better Business Burea online for your are to find a good trust worthy Mechanics shop first and read customer reviews before deciding though.
The codes mean that the Electronic Pressure Control Solenoid is going bad. The computer detects that the shifts are taking longer than 0.65 seconds. Then the computer commands maximum line pressure to avoid burning out the clutches, hence the hard shifting. My 2002 Grand Prix had the same problem, and I had great luck just installing a shift kit to speed up the shifting and haven't had any further issues.
The transmission is probably shot. the only other thing could be dirty linkage if you mean "hard" as in hard to move the shift lever. The first thing I would do is get a tranny fluid and filter change.
