If its a diesel the the starter motor will be contaminated with dust from the dual mass flywheel breaking up and will need renewing along with the clutch and flywheel, if it is a petrol check the battery and wiring if thats ok its the starter motor you should also check the battery etc if its a diesel before changing anything

My 1993 honda civic si is hard starting when engine is cold but if i already warm it up its easy start. what could be the solution coz im worried about my strter

Are you saying the engine is difficult to crank, or start ?
If it cranks ok but takes a long time to start, the starter is not the problem. You would look at ignition or fuel.

Thought I had a dead battery but it does start after 5-15 attempts. Just a 'tick' sound until it finally catches. Is this the starter?

Yes it ticks when battery can not turn the starter

just replace starter But charge your battery since it has been worked very hard

You need the solenoid switch either replaced or repaired. The solenoid is part of the starter and the Nippondenso brand can have the contacts replaced in it and the Mando brand is only serviced by replacement.Either way,it will be a lot cheaper to fix the solenoid switch then to replace the starter, but a new starter will also get rid of your problem, hope this helps!
