Thanks but break hofes seem fine. The real mystery is that the binding changes from one side to the other, never both sides at the same time.Yesterday I went to work and it was the near side that got hot.when I got home it was the off side!

JoeYuma, find a journeyman mechanic and tell him your rotors are warped and watch him replace them. As it is 10 and who knows how many miles are on it; while you are in there put new calipers and pads in it too and take a gander at the rear brakes as well.

Do they still have a "boys town" south of the border down there?

The caliper assemblies mey be sticking when you apply the brakes. This condition can be cuased by overheated brake fluid. I would have a brake and alignment shop check out the front brakes.

Good chance of caliper to piston issues like you describe, the pistons must move freely (freely a relative term). Easiest to replace with rebuilt calipers. You need perfect brakes. Consider replacing rubber lines at the same time, pretty easy during caliper job and DO NOT let M/C run low on fluid during this process.

Changed front brakes on 2000 grand cherokee, bled brakes, and pedal seems spongier than normal

You still have air in the brakes, start at the master cylinder, then the rear, right wheel, left rear, and right front, then the left front.Make sure the calipers are releasing completely ,if they are not, then a brake hose could be bad.

Were the calipers check for not sticking, as well as lubed well when re-installed? If it's original flex hoses at calipers, that's also a consideration.

Just changed brake pads and discs on jeep cherokee 2000

You may have a bad caliper or rotor may be too thick(not the right ones). Here is a test to check for binding put car on a flat surface and put vehicle in neutral and try to push vehicle it should roll with a small amount of force if Not it binding. Check calipers and rotor thickness to make sure its correct. If the rotors are the original equipment then it must be a caliper. Good luck and contact if you need more help. Thanks for using FIX YA
