Question about 2002 Dodge Durango

No heat in front but back heat is working

I have a 2002 dodge and just recently started having problems with the heater. I started my truck and went to turn the heat/defrost on in the front and back. Well, the back heat came on but nothing in front. So I turned the knob off and tried again, still nothing. The fan didn't turn on either. It's like I didn't turn on anything in the front. I have no clue where to start or what could possibly be wrong. I don't have much money so I really can't afford to take it in to the dealership. I rather try some things and use that as a last resort, lol. Any help will be appreciated.

Could be a blower motor resistor or a faulty blower motor. if no air is coming out of the vents when you turn the switch to on there is a fault in the electrical system somewhere. the rear blower system is pretty much totally separate from the front so therefor rear hvac is working properly. test blower motor resistor and blower motor current and see if its putting out any power also make sure the wires going to the blower motor are hot also.

Why does the heater on my 2002 dodge grand caravan only work in the back of my van?

change thermostat, how fresh is your 50/50 coolant, 50% water is what gives you heat, with thermostat, are all heat controls in correct position ? any obstructions in vent hoses, has debris fallen into defroster vents etc., are rad hoses in good condition ? weak hoses collapse and prevent flow. good luck

2003 Dodge Caravan SE Question, Burning rubber/plastic smell when i turn on heat?

I have had this same exact issue. Heat in front would only work on high, after a while started squealing a bit, now it doesn't work in front at all. I still have heat in the back.

I haven't had a chance to fix it yet, but when I do (soon) I will post. In shop at the moment replacing a bent flywheel on the transmission.

I do not get any heat in the rear of my 2002 Dodge Grand caravan sport. The front of van takes a long time to heat up but, heat will work after a long time. Is my rear heater core bad?

Uncover it and see if it is hot if it does your fan or switch needs replacing if it's cold and the engine is hot. diconnect hoses when ciold and put them in bucket and have someone start car and put on rear heat if water flows flush out core or replace if it doesn't flow switch is not opening vale or valve bad. I would think there is no valve and there is hot water to the unit all the time. There my be a door that opens and closes like the front heating system12_12_2011_4_57_51_pm.jpg

Heater fan regulation

2002 Grand Caravan. The rear heater also has a resistor for the fan speed control.(3 speed) It is located under the rear passenger side plastic cover. You can take off the rear tail gate lower plastic piece and this will let you pull out the side panel. You can reach in and take out the two screws that hold in the resistor and unhook the wiring adapter. You do not have to take off the whole side panel as you can reach in from the back. The resistor unit can be bought at you local dodge dealer.
