I have a 2005 v6 chevy malibu and i keep having a problem w/ my break light flashing and then it says i need break fluid well i just got it toped off like 3wks ago and do not have a leak that i know of... what else could be causing it? i bought the car used. it has 87000 miles on it... i have no clue what the car has been through before i got it, i've had two wrecks in it... also the change oil soon message keeps coming up on the radio screen... just changed that too 3 weeks ago, any suggestions? thanks

thank you dennymulford!!! i'm going to try the gas peddle trick for the oil message... my husband also thought that there might be air in the system, or maybe some type of inturneral leak (yikes) i dont have that much more time before my next oil change (i put a ton of miles on my car) so i think wait on the break thing til then and just be extra careful! thanks again

The brake light will come on if the parking brake doesn't fully depress a button.

Ok, as far as you brake light gos it will come on if you have air in the system try bleeding the system and also will come on if your front pads are getting really thin,as far as your change oil light you need too reset the computer by turning the switch on(but not starting the car) then pump the gas peddle 3 times real fast you may have too do this several times my trucks a pain in the neck too do takes about 15 times

My power steering light came on on my 2005 chevy malibu it went out right away is this a problem

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. If the steering wheel is making noises when you turn or it is harder to turn the wheel now, it is. If it is not doing that, I would check my steering fluid level just to be sure. You may need to add a little fluid to it. If this all checks out, you should be fine. Just keep a close eye on it to see if it comes on again. If it does, get it looked at. If there was a problem, you would probably see a check engine light come on. When you check your fluid, make sure there are no leaks. If there are, take it to get looked at. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and thanks for using FixYa.

I can't figure out where to put power steering fluid in my 2004 chevrolet malibu

the 2004 malibu does not have a place to put transmission fluid it has a electric power steering system and does not use fluid, if you are having a problem with the power steering light chimming and lighting up this is under a recall that chevy has obligated to fix. So if your car is doing this take it to your local chevy dealership and have them to repair it for you. Hope this helps.

Will it hurt if i put the wrong fluid in my chevy malibu 2005 classic? Will a flush help keep from damaging it. What kind of fluid does it use?

on most gm prducts they take dex-cool anti freeze coolant. they say do not mix differant coolants together!! in the owners manual or a tag underhood will tell you what kind to use. if not then call any auto parts store and they should know. just do a good flush of coolant system and refill with proper coolant. have a good day !!

Malibu keeps stalling after i start it up.

Check to see if it still has spark after it stalls...if it does spray starter fluid into the air intake and see if it will keep running as long as you give it starter fluid. If it have a fuel problem, pump, filter, regulator.
