Turn the nut on the crank pulley CLOCKWISE should be either 18 or 19mm. possibly 7/8.bolt head. look down the cylinder while some one is turning until you see piston come up to the top.

Engine turning but wont start. did scan test and shows map sensor. was replaced but still the same. what else could it be

Check the timing chain. The 2.2 motors have a plastic tensoner to keep the chain tight. If you take out the number one spark plug out and valve cover bring the piston up to the top of the cylender check to see if the intake valve is opening when you keep on turning the engine over.As the piston is going down the intake valve should be open. Make sure that you are on the right stroke.

Line up timing marks on a 1980 chevy chevette, I turned the crank accidently and don't no how many teeth.

To be perfectly sure where the number 1 cylinder fire is at this point remove the valve cover, remove the #1 spark plug, remove the distributor cap, clean the crank to identify clearly the crankshaft marking on the crankshaft harmonic balancer wheel.
First step: Slowly turn the crank by hand until the line on the crank lines up to the zero timing mark...if you are on #1 the rotor in the distributor should be facing the #1 segmant in the distrbutor caps firing sequence, to verify further both intake and exhaust valve rocker arms should be in the valve closed positions in the #1 cylinder, the piston should be all the way to the top opf dead center(carefully insert a long skinny screw driver into the #1 spark plug hole to feel the pistons top travel while being sure the valves are both closed as explained above).
With all that checking out you are now exactly on top dead center in the #1 firing order sequence of your valve timing.

How do i change the brakes on a 2000 pontiac sunfire

Pull the wheels off. Remove the calipers. There are usually two bolts. Remove the pads from the holders. Use a c-clamp to depress the piston. Usually you have to crack the brake bleed valve in order to do this. Replace the pads and the holders to hold them in place. Tighten the bolts that hold the caliper. Replace the wheel and lug nuts.

Car does not crank it would turn over but it would not crank

Crank means turn over.Do you mean that it is cranking but not starting? If so then make sure you have spark to the plugs. If spark is good then see if you have fuel pressure. You have to find out if you are not getting spark or fuel.Hope this helps.

Check to make sure the fuel injector is working on that cylinder, check the connector to the injector for a loose or damaged pin, get a NOID tester from a parts store and see if the injector flashes the NOID light while the engine is running or cranking.
