1990 chevy silverado amp guage flutters with turn
Are we talking at adle or at speed? How much, and has it always done it? Before you start replacing parts or tearing evrything down, service your battery and all connections on the engine. Make sure there is a ground from the battery to the frame as well as the engine. Lots of times, people take these off and the resistance is too much in the system.
It could be an overly sensitive ammeter and if that is what it is, don't worry about it.
Your idle might be a little low if it only happens at a light, or when you are not moving.
The other thing it might be is your alternator. Take it off and into your local parts store and have them test it. If it is internal, it could be diode or winding shorted or brushes or possibly the regulator. they can tell you with a bench test and if you are handy, repair the problem internally.
