What engine is in the vehicle now or which engine came with it? if you dont kow give me the vin # and i can tell what your suppose to have. your best and easiest bet is to put back the factory engine you can upgrade to the dohc 2.5 6cyl eng with little trouble, but the engine bays on these things are tight as it is. not sure what you plan on using the car for neither? you might be better off having the one that is in therer r and r'd. might be best way to go. let me know and ill help you the best i can.

Have the engine hooked up to a diagnostic meter to see exactly where the problem is. No sense in replacing a lot of parts when only one or two may be necessary.

1999 Ford Contour goes dead and will not start till engine cools, What causes this problem?

This could be either the crankshaft sensor or the temp sensor on the engine. IF you have a check engine light that is on, you can get the codes from it and see.

At Auto Zone, ask for part number 34223. It is a bypass pulley that you can replace the a/c compressor with so you can use the original belt without issue.

moz-screenshot-6.jpgCAUTION The 2.0L engine is an interference motor. Extending thereplacement interval could lead to the belt breaking and severe andcostly engine damage. Care must be taken if rotating the crankshaft orcamshafts with the belt off, if resistance is felt, do not force themto turn.

Will a 1999 ford contour engine fit in a 2002 ford escort ?

I believe it will fit but would recommend you go by a Ford place and ask them but if all the parts match I believe you can do it but just take the measurments of the engine and the axels because you want to make sure that it will fit in the car you want it in :) cause when I was a lot younger I put a 5.0 engine in an excort gt and it had a 1.9 so you should not have a problem

Ford contour

Take it back to the shop who did the work and make sure all the engine wire connectors are on and locked, also check the air inlet hoses to the engine for loose clamps
