I dont know the exact circumstances of each incident in which the windows did not work, this is however a problem with Jeep Cherokees most commonly causes by a broken or freyed wire between any one of the doors and the frame, There is a black rubber boot that connects the doors and the frame which covers the wiring between them. Inside one of the boots (probably on the doors that are most commonly used) you will probably find a broken wire. You should soldr this connection and then cover in shrink tubing. Also, this wire, although broken, may not have broken the normal shielding and therefore may not be obvious. The fact that it seams to correspond with turning the car off, can be explained by the entering and exiting of the car as well as any other environmental changes such at teprature or shaking of the car while driving.

Let me know how it turns out

most electonics and electrical requires proper operating voltage to work right..since jumping the car cause a severe fluxuation(change) in this, the battery may need replaced..most batteries fail in exteme cold unless they are chemically sound(good) inside..If you have a charger and can connect it to the car while it sits for a few hours the batterys static charge value must be raised to within its normal range.. if not, replace the battery

first off clean the battery terminals, then follow the ground wire to the body and engine ensure they have good connections. sometimes the wire on the back of the engine that goes to the body breaks. good luck

Electrical probblems are always the hardest to solve. I don't believe it to be the ecu, because when one fries it doesn't work at all but that may be the case. I believe from what you describe there is a short somewhere between an important censor and the ecu, like mas, 02 or throttle positioning censors. Ive also come across cases of which the catalytic converter was clogged making the car not operate correctly. Hope this helps.

Engine light came on

The engine or "check engine" light, comes on when one of several systems that control emissions or engine operation fail a start up test or when system component fails during operation. The On Board Computer (OBC II) will detect these failures, turn on the check engine light, and store a "fault code" that identifies the failure. There are several auto parts store chains and service shops that will "scan" your OBC II for free and tell you what the fault code means. If you have questions about the codes once you know them, get back to us then
