Check for spark, check to see if the engine is getting fuel. If its getting spark spray some starting fluid into the throttle body. If it starts for a second or two then you have a fuel issue which I would be more than happy to help you with

Does it seem like it finally starts after you let go of the key? Could be a few different issues depending on what it is actually doing. Starter could be hanging up or flywheel teeth could be worn in spots

Wont kick over
  1. Hi Mike, maybe something got stirred up and lodged in the fuel filter? Maybe the fuel pump finally went? Can you hear the relay click and/or the fuel pump run when you turn on the ignition? Maybe some critter gnawed it's way through a wire or two; they really seem to like our Loyales. I just had one do this because the battery connection was good enough, but then slipped away.

My 2000 ford contour wont start. Engine cranks, but seems no spark. I checked plugs and coil. Fuel pump kicks on and shuts off after primed. It just got harder and harder to start, finally it wont start.
Have you changed the fuel filter.

Your pump may be priming but the pressure could be against a clogged filter.

You might want to check the fuel pressur at the rail.
It might be a fuel pressure regulator problem

Try using some starting fluid in the intake pickup; continue spraying while someone starts the car. If the car starts up, the fuel pump has gone bad.

Car Does not start. Almost does but doesn't have that final kick.
without testing anything its really a guess. But I would get the fuel pressure checked to start with. Also try starting the car with your foot on the gas slightly. if it starts better then the Idle air control valve may be at fault
